Actually the texture flickering and the sound being broken are well known issues with the last few patches, they have been reported many times.

Hell there is a hot fix that sucks for the G35 headset to ix the sound, but it really should be on PGI to get their crap together XD

Then keep doing so until they are fixed. They have posted that performance updates will be coming. They know it's not the ideal situation but are working to improve it.

I tend to believe most of the "get their crap together" posts are just people who wanted it yesterday. I understand the mindset but I for one can wait longer I guess.

PGI and the MW:LL team were working on their projects around the same time. They couldnt have gotten the license as there was already someone working on it, (The kids at PGI in this case) and it would be utterly stupid to release the license to two folk and split the player base between two games.

Uhm...work on MW:LL began at least in 2008. Noone was working on an official Mechwarrior game at that time.

Development of MWO began in October of 2008, and before that they were doing the ground work for the smith and tinker trailer we saw several years ago.

I am meaning the various idiotic balancing moves, their breaking textures and and sound and working on vanity items before the core game works properly.

Not just their inability to make it perform properly, that can be fixed in time but working on vanity stuff while there are more important issues running around...

Little known fact: the art team is not the net-code team is not the graphics engine team.

Just sayin'

They can have 2+ teams working on different programming areas. One does vanity items, the other working on netcode for instance. One can finish a lot sooner than the other as the underlying program is not as difficult in one area than the other. Companies can, and do, focus on multiple items at one time.

Again, I believe it's due to the want to have it( from some posts it feels like they need it to live) yesterday mentality.

Which is why I still feel it's so odd that this game is already OBT. It's still CBT material from the looks of it, so I'm really hoping that PGI postpones releasing this game live anytime soon, or many gamers won't take MW:O seriously.

Also, can you add these two things to your signature:

To != Too
Your != You're

mwll was never intended as a commercial release<news flash>!! Its a mod, done by volunteers.
Sorry if you couldnt install a game and then install a download.
Sorry if you couldnt be satisfied with hundreds of variants and just HAD to have a mechlab.
Sorry if you couldnt compete.
Sorry if the concept of combined arms, which is bt cannon, makes your head hurt.
Sorry if you couldnt handle having to start out in a light mech... oh noes., and had to <gasp> earn a med, heavy , or assault.
Sorry if you couldnt handle ba swarms.
Sorry if you couldnt handle aero and vtol
And finally, sorry if your preconceived notions of what a mechwarrior game is made it impossible for you to appreciate a game that even with ONE server full is still better at this point than mwo.
So sorry.

Son, go put your helmet back on, you may get hurt without it.

Gramps, you should really find out, how the company's interactions work. And please, get the crystal ball back to the fairy country you took it from, it is lying.

Don't get me wrong, looking at MWLL as a mod - it is a great mod. And I love combined warfare too.
But when some people start saying phrases like "If MWLL devs had as much money they would have made a better game" - the ignorance in these words makes me laugh too hard. Because yeah, MWLL is a good, interesting MOD. Not a game, and never intended to be one.

I guess you mean Mechwarrior 3015 instead of MWO? If I remember right S&T contacted PGI in 2009 to work on it for them.

Wouldn't have worked as a commercial release anyways.

MechWarrior Living Legends begs to differ

The MW:LL guys with PGIs budget, now THERE would be a game.

Um they dont and these guys are passionate about it. How many devs let you get in there face like these ones do. Huh. Yeah. I am thankful for PGI. Your MWLL didnt put money on the table and step up. They aren't taking the chances PGI is. PGI RULES!

Responding just so show general support! I have enjoyed this experiment and it is worth my founders investment. A huge risk but, I love battletech/mechwarrior. So far so good.

Watching movies from MW:LL I beg to differ. Having tons of experience building mods and beta testing games, I beg to differ.

PGI has worked hard and made a LOT of strides in the past 6 months. But they are still finding their feet, and a lot is lacking, like really big maps, ability to drop vs another team of your choosing, lobbies, aerospace call-ins, tank call-ins, and proper functioning electronic warfare.

PGI has 20 years of games to draw on, and the gamers of mechwarrior have tons more actual gaming experience than most every at PGI when it comes to the pure hours we sink into playing MWO.

I'm pretty happy with PGI at this point though they still need to crank the wheels hard if they are going to make this work, right now Planetside 2 is miles ahead of this game, and it was miles ahead in open beta too.

As of this patch, dec 4th, we finally got to where I think Open Beta would have been a good move. The last month has cost a lot of players walking away due to PGI's impatience to hit open beta, and I only hope that PGI has learned their lessons and will start to really step it up as we move to release and community warfare.

So yeah, thanks for reviving Mechwarrior, thanks for working hard to make the big bucks, but don't forget that as of today MWO is finally at what I would call a barely acceptable open beta stage, and that community warfare, planet side battles, dropship mutator respawn battles, more gamemodes all need to be coming down the pipes fast and working for this game to make it.

who am I to tell people to not waste their money? Apparently nostalgia at the cost of quality is a $120 ticket. Said it before, I'll say it again, IGP figured they could cash in on nostalgia, and they were right: 5 million dollars right.
