who am I to tell people to not waste their money? Apparently nostalgia at the cost of quality is a $120 ticket. Said it before, I'll say it again, IGP figured they could cash in on nostalgia, and they were right: 5 million dollars right.

So I have to ask and I mean i'm sure if you had a nickle for every time someone said this we could pay you to go away but:

Given that your signature indicates you have little but contempt for the community and the forum
Given that the content of your posts show you have a huge dislike for the game
Given that you rarely add anything to any discussion...

Why are you still here?

I mean some people here are trolls but at least they unlike you have the decency to be witty, funny, and even *gasp* like the game.

I wanted to try LL, couldn't figure out the install instructions, or at least complete them as they were written. They required me to log into a Crysis Wars game before running the mod. I couldn't get into a game, then again I didn't use gamespy or anything like that, the internal browser, and all base games came up as locked or empty. I gave up on LL.

Actually, Yes...

Who pissed in your cheerios?
Is Santa clause real?
What is the air speed of a laden swallow?
Where do Zombies come from?
Is it normal for a fan to be openly hostile to everything related to his fandom in a forum for that fandom?
how many fingers am I holding up?
Does watching a train wreck count when you helped derail it?
Why are peguins so evil?
I heard a founder kicked your puppy is that true?

MWLL had one big problem.
It is not fun to play.
And because of this noone played it.
Who would fund a game like this?

Depends on whose writing them.
Using 'Everything' is hyperbole.
uhhhh, seven!?
I would believe so, yes.
They are here to punish you.
I will neither confirm nor deny having my puppy kicked, the case is still in arbitration.

good day.

just curious what wasnt fun for you? because I had, and this is NOT a jab at mwo, Im sure if i had a rockin system, id like mwo even more, but I had a lot more fun playing mwll. as
A mech pilot, from the ppc osiris, to the thor a... wow talk about fun,, c born, with rac5? lol .. fun..
I had fun as a ba... are you kidding me? ba swarm/// you want fun .. ? take out an assault with a mpcc.or hv laz.
As a vtol... down and dirty with the rac 5... fun,,, ? no more fun have I ever had in any game than close in support in the vtol..
tank? AA duty.? watching aero explode all around me? FUN.!
Dual ac20 demo? FUN@!
and guess what? I didnt even ever learn how to fly aero... they sure looked like fun to me too..

Were there problems? sure, low player count primarily, but not fun,,, sorry, our tiny community has a thread 100 plus pages long of memorable moments. For a reason.. It was fun... not to mention... epic... on a daily basis.
NOt to mention variety... maps, assets, game type... all things sorely lacking atm here.
The only thing this game has going for it in comparison is the players....
I hate to say it, but theres nothing comparible here.. Maybe.... maybe one day... I really hope so.. Id rather see this game succeed than fail.. Thats for sure.

Definitely some of the most uninspired map designs I've seen. The only thing they've done right so far is to have different maps effect your heat mitigation.

And the current map mode is one of the worst implementations of map mechanics I've ever seen.

When I hear a comment about poor design I twitch a little because I really don't know what standard they are holding it to.

So please tell us how the maps are poorly designed and given an example of a game with better map design.

Felt not like MW to me, but like a bad battlefield remake. I guess it was the missing mechlab.

I even liked the mektek thing more - and that was based on MW4, the worst MW ever.

One more time : We need to raise the quality of education in the US.

Regardless of how you feel PGI is doing just remember if it weren't from them, we'd have no Mechwarrior at all. I for one would not have liked to wait another decade.

So, I get the sentiment, I really do. It feels good to think they're somehow doing us a favor here; takes the sting out a little.

If someone gave you a car that broke down every day and rarely got you to where you wanted to go ... you'd prob patiently take the bus until circumstances occurred that would provide a fully working vehicle.

I could have waited until a competent game developer decided to take a stab at it. And given the IP, it would have happened eventually.

I doubt that.

There was a reason why MS dropped the IP. It did not sell enough. :P

Most of the oldskewl BT guys are now between 30 and 40 and have a Job, a wife and maybe even kids. A dying species.

Microsoft still owns the BattleTech IP.

They are licensing it to IGP/PGI/MW:LL

That's actually the problem. No publisher would fund MW5 because MS has a "No PS3" clause in that license, and the reality is that right now (because of the economy) no big Publishers/VC will fund you unless you're on all consoles. Sadly that's one of the reasons the gaming industry has become so consolidated with EA/Activation/Etc pumping out junk for the masses.

Barring complete collapse of the economy, that won't be the reality forever. Hense, I would have waited.

The problem here is comparing a mod that's been in development for 5 years and tacked onto an existing game to a game built from ground up (yes I know there's an engine but they're using their own code and not already done by other professional vehicle classes and such) that's been in development for a little over a year. OG COURSE there will be more content. But there are also limitations, such as customization. Since they didnt build their own game, they couldn't do anything like a mechlab. It feels like a mod, not like a game. MWO feels like it's own game. And yes, I do like MW:LL, but in the past couple months I've tried a couple times a week to play and either there is NOBODY on, or 1 server that's full. I'll take "Click launch, game in 5 seonds) over that any day of the week.

Not to add more fuel for the pitchfork crowd, but you know, the guys at mektek.net had a demo product in the works and were chased away from the PC by PGI. There was a huge stink about it. Last I heard, their product will only be for tesla pods now.

edit: Wow, after posting this, I visited their site and they have something counting down. Totally revamped their website. They are getting ready for something.
