I played a match just now and received something like 50-60k C-bills for my salvage bonus, this totaled with the victory gave me around 167,000 Cbills, which is the highest I've ever gotten from a match.

I googled it but couldn't find anything that explained how to actually get a higher salvage bonus, I saw the wiki mentioned that it has to do with how well you do in the match but in this match I only fired at one jenner a few times and didn't actually do that much damage, then I died. So I don't see how I got so much.

it is a team bonus... your team made a whole lot and it got split between all 8 of you.

if you leg or headshot a mech you get a lot of salvage because the engine is still intact.

More than that. You get a percentage of the intact components on mechs you destroy that is split 8-ways on your team. Headshots and shooting off both legs nets you the most salvage.

That's why I always headshot afk mechs before I hit the cap, if I'm in a position to cap in puggie matches.

AFAIK legging is worth more than headshots because the components of the head are more expensive and therefore give more cbills but dont quote me on this, i am probably wrong.
