Ejection and the Death of a mech

So the general question is, Should there be multiple methods to die, with different "penalties" associated with the death?
-Fighting until your mech gives out ~50% cost to repair
-Ejecting before your mech gives out ~33% cost to repair
-Flee from the field of battle/surrender option(when all is hopeless) ~25% cost to repair
Another possibility is that there will be a calculated damage system where the game actively keeps track of which parts of your mech were damaged and their "value".
So your arm may cost 2,500 Cbills, your Center torso 5,000 Cbills and so on. So a full death may simply mean the max repair cost for each mech section.
Then the all mighty question arises, I've died in the match. what happens now?
Will I be spectating, kicked to lobby? other options maybe?
PS: My first topic started, sorry if the poll is messed up somehow, or if i posted in the wrong section.

If you mean died as in the pilot kicking the bucket, that can't happen at all in MW:O. IIRC, even ejection won't be featured, at least not initially. If you just mean the mech getting disabled, I'd say the amount you need to spend in C-Bills for repair will vary depending on the cirumenstances.
Once you are destroyed, I'm hoping for WoT style system where you can just exit back to lobby for no penalty and start a different battle with different 'mech while the surviving pilots finish up the first one.

Sure players could relay info to team after being taken out but since both sides would have the option it's self balancing as long as players are still able to type in team chat vs not being able to type which then favors 3rd party VOIP.

My hope is that the repairs will be a static amount for external armor and a sliding scale for interals, based on value of internal components. Obviously the more complex the component the more it will cost, to reflect the man hours of wrenching something like a hip actuator into place and calibrated.
Im expecting to pay roughly 30-50% of a mechs total cost with each mech destroyed result. Im not looking forward to that, but it is preferable to having to scratch together a new pilot. I do not want to lose my pilots.

If you have it so the spectator can only spectate friendlies, and only see what the team can see, this isn't an issue.

maybe, what if the person watching is paying more attention..... "hey Atlas one, those two heavies are covering, the SRMs they are firing are just covering for some LRMs coming from behind that hill" "ahhh thanks man, Command-atlas one there is a support element at grid coords...blah blah blah"
I see the other side, its not fun to sit without watching...but im not sure. If they do allow spectate i agree that it should only be friendlies and that they should not be able to switch who they are spectating often.

Most likely you will be allowed to spectate if you wish, or drop into the client software to repair your 'mech and start up another match.
We will see once open beta hits sometime in "Summer 2012"
Cheers.

As far as the mini-movie... I was undecided. I guess a 3rd person camera circling your destroyed mech for a few seconds would be cool.

Sure the winners have some repair costs too, but the long and short of it would be that really good players could buy a new mech every 3-4 matches. That's not nearly grindy enough for a F2P setup.
I think it's more realistic to assume that you'll be earning around 1/50th of a mech's value for a win (after repairs) and maybe 1/100th of a mech's value for a loss. (again after repairs are deducted) That way, hardcore players can buy the mechs they want, but there's still an encouragement to put money into the game "get that new mech now." Maybe if you win a match and somehow come out with a completely untouched mech, you'd earn as much as 1/30th of a new mech, but no way in heck would you be getting 1/3 to 1/2 of one. >_>
Also, this is a F2P title that is seeking a large audience. I don't think there's going to be a way to actively lose money in a match short of if you loaded in, killed 3 of your teammates and then suicide. If poor players get forced into a situation where they can't afford repairs, then you force that player to either:
1. Make a new account
2. (more likely) Quit because they couldn't win with a fully loaded mech, much less a half-armored mech that's down 2 weapons.
Devs have already said that your mech gets automatically (and probably freely) restored to a bare minimum state after each match. What I think that means is that you get your internal structure fixed up for free, and the only repair cost you have is replacing armor, weapons, ammo and (maaaybe) criticals.

I'd have to go with that, watching mechs smash each other is second only to piloting them.
