Yes, I would much rather pay up front than have my money extorted for "conviences" like premium time and mech bucks. The game may be free to play but they try their damnedest to get you spend something.

Of course they do, it's not a charity they're running here.

Thanks for answers. I am not a native speaker so I may do a few mistakes, but for that "wheeping" I am ashamed. I tried to compare this game to other MW and similar games that exist. These were some of the reasons I will not probably play this game so much as others.

- 3rd person view - I like the concept of simulator, but I miss it to watch my mech. I can live with it.
- Matchmaking based on tiers or tonnage is the same (In WoT there are 10 tiers, here you can split it by 10 tonnes, starting at 30). This is important for me.
- When you have to grind at the beginning, It means I won't play and pay for this game, cause it misses key elements of mech fighting for me. So some light starting mech with customization would make this game more fun for me. Everyone likes other parts of games, I like customizing (building) your mech. And it is a beta...
- In WoT running a high tier (tonnage) tank costs you lot of credits to repair and rearm, so you must play lower tiers to earn money for playing higher tiers (it is a great system to force players to play every class). Every type has its own purpose - it is here too I suppose. Without premium tier 8+ (80+ tonne) vehicle does not earn money if not played well.
- Heat management without coolant and customizing misses one of the key elements now. I am almost everytime overheated and can't do anything. In other MW games I simply added more heatsinks and lower heat weapons to compensate.
- Heat should dissipate faster in water (did not notice any influence)
- I also miss weapon grouping in mechlab and at the match beginning countdown, together with map viewing.
- Switching mech damage view does not spoil anything and adds some nice little element to customize.
- Torso twist on map is not very clear way to show it, could be better. }center torso to legs... are there both variants? I don't think so (torso to legs and legs to torso - that was what i mentioned)
- Start somewhere with similar players with similar experience, meeting Atlas is usually end of match...
- LAMS/AMS - I didn't notice I have them, should be mentioned somewhere (maybe is...).
- Mouse wheel for zooming?

And in beta I usually expect to get to most aspects of game fast, so I can view them and comment nad look forward to release. Getting to own mech, that is lets say 4 million credits - it is about 40-50 matches in mech that does not suit me, does not evolve and is not mine --> this spoils fun for me. Grinding may be here when I am on the hook - I played game, I liked it and I am motivated to get better mech. Now it is there at the start, when I am not motivated, cause it is another bad game that is boring (little overexaggerating though) and I am shredded by more experienced players. I hope developers know this and will fix this, cause they lose this way a lot of potential players (buyers) that are discouraged at the beginning. And I am not talking about players that have never seen or driven a mech in other games. I think it must be really confusing for them.

Heat does dissipate faster in the water, but it only affects heat sinks that you place in the legs.

AMS is considered a weapon that is mounted to the AMS hardpoint.

Try overriding your shutdown to manage heat.

People will be against coolant flushes and other things like that because those were not a part of the tabletop Battletech game.

Also, just note how much heat each weapon group gives out, and then heat management becomes very easy. I know that each of my weapon groups gives me around 10% heat, so I know I'm safe to fire when I'm under 90%.

And finally, a lighter mech is not worse than a heavier mech. A single 35 ton Jenner will actually have an advantage over a 100 ton Atlas. But it will be weaker against certain medium and heavy mechs. Good light mechs can be and frequently are more effective than assault mechs. Having matchmaking split by tonnage is a terrible idea that gives the impression that heavier mechs are better than lighter mechs.

Some of the capabilities of a light mech:

There are a couple other mechanics you may not have picked up on yet. There is a max range and a true max range to weapons. A small laser, for example, has a max range of 90 M. This means it will do full damage up to 90 M. But it has a true max range of 180 M meaning it will still do some damage up to 180 M, just decreasingly so. Ballistic weapons have triple the max range for true max whereas energy weapons are double.

Missiles have no true max range, but LRMs have a minimum range. They will do 0 damage when fired under 180 M. PPCs will do less damage under 90 M (this does not apply to ER PPCs).

Tahnks for valuable reply.
Well.. the range mechanics I really did not know about (I knew only about max range).
I was never a good light mech player :P But I don't have that experience about advantage of light mech over assault.
And I played battletech tabletop game (or at least one type of it), but i still miss coolant.

You paid for your previous MechWarrior titles.

Do these guys a favor, support them, buy some MC, and buy a mech with that MC.

They get funding they need to hire and pay their current employees, and you get a mech you can customize.

*hands out his complimentary LRM hat* Welcome to the forums!

I've tried to get most of this info in one post (albeit, it's a bit large and some of it isn't accurate anymore as it's changed along the BETA progression), but I would suggest suspending your previous knowledge of MW games and approaching this as a reboot and not just Mechwarrior 5.

Heat, Mech control, getting rid of Alpha-ing Disease, can be difficult at first, but after awhile it's actually not bad (I do like the torso twist and actually having heat management be a part of the game).

Yes it's still BETA, so we are working out a few (or a lot depending on who you talk to) bugs and still tweaking things (like the brutal new player punitive economy).

Trial mechs are a bit underpowered, so understand they are really your 'training ground' you are not expected to post a +5 K/D/R in them (surviving is the first step).

Many, many features are in the pipeline, that should add a ton of depth to this game, the community is active (sometimes a bit too much so) and while you will get some heat for posts like this, generally we're pretty helpful.

Ask questions in game (it's best to start out with 'alittle help plz, I am new') it helps set expectations for the match.

Also you'll run into a few groups of players, we call them evil Pre-mades :P , they usually do quite well, I suggest getting to know some of them and getting voice com (C3) installed and running with them once you're up to speed (it's a different game experience when in a group working together).

Good Luck, and Better Hula!

Thanks for the post :) Well, no matter what I say, I wrote something on the forum, so it means this game got my interest and I would like to make it better. Well, voice comm, I know it improves game, but I don't use it too much, cause it disturbs my surroundings a bit. As for buying not everyone has... I don't like to do it because I feel like getting advantage over other players. It seems maybe silly, I can definitelly afford it. But it is not the same start fo everyone. I accept that other people who invest money get better progress and more feaures and such. I just wanted to pinpoint that when you make the beginnings more fun and better, it is easier to get money later, IMHO. Well and now at the end I don't know whether I made myself clear, because even I am not sure :(

you can grind your way out of the commando in a day Jammore, and have a hell of a lot of fun doing it. feel free to write in your native language if you are more comfortable with it. the community will figure out what you are saying. the majority of the folks who enjoy MW are above the curve, not below it.

The madcat/dire wolf is on the way. One of muckity mucks said something along the lines of:
'We'd have to be insane not to offer the most popular mech of all time'

There's just the small matter of an invasion first.
