Crazybrave, I tried running latest MW on Win7 some time ago, couldn't get it to work as well :o

Mechwarrior 4: Mercs by Mektek? You just have to run it as an Administrator and it should start up no problem.

Let's put it this way, I was playing the NES before I knew how to read, and the first thing I learned how to do on my dad's computer was how to type CD:/Mech2 into DOS.

Still remember trying playing around with an elemental in old school MW games :o

I'm new, this will be my first Mechwarrior game. But I unknowingly read a couple of the books not realizing that there was a game and 20 years worth of history behind it.

I was 3 years old when my brothers, in their infinite wisdom, brought home Mechwarrior 2.

I still have my original cardboard figures (although i'm low on the little black bases). They're all in storage on the mainland, with most of my out-dated books.

Thanks for reminding me how damn old i am. Like the B-day earlier this month wasn't bad enough, now i'm reading forum posts that leave me trying to remember which decade it was when i played some of my first mini games.

I hate you all.

I was six years old when I played my frist Mechwarrior game (MW3),and ever since then I was hooked. So I would say about 12 years.

Been playing at LEAST 17-19 years. I distinctly remember when Mechwarrior 2 came out, but my buddy and I had been playing pen&paper from before that. Read many of the books. What was really creepy was when we were so immersed in it we were coming up with role-playing scenarios that started predicting the later books before they came out, almost to the letter.

My character was an illegitimate son of Justin Allard (and half-brother to Kai Allard-Liao) who was found out and rejected from the Allard-Liao family right around the time of the Clan's appearance and all the St. Ives/Capellan "unpleasantness". He went on to start his own mercenary regiment and then became a Solaris champion in his spare time. :o

I've played every video game since MW2, including the atrocity that was MechAssault 2. Was not happy with the direction the games took after MicroSucks took over, other than MW3 which they had very limited involvement in, and honestly the MechCommander series wasn't awful.

I was never a real fan of the Dark Age stuff either.

Edit: I also remember the TV show and toy line. I might still have the Bushwacker toy around somewhere. Anyone remember that?

The Battletech universe has always facinated me. Not only the mech designs (and also the dropships and jumpships and warships and etc. etc. *hugz my 3055 Tech Readout book*), but the universe is amazing. I have yet to find another 'mech-oriented universe that is as rich and complex as the Battletech universe is.

I also started TT with some friends back in the mid 90's and then the MW RP game and subsequently every variant of PC and Console game related since. I recently dug through the bookshelf and started reading Heir To The Dragon again while awaiting MWO's release...Man I love this stuff.

CD:/Mechwar

mechwar

...and more fun with the Blazing Aces. I love reading these posts because it brings back memories of scouring through the TT sourcebooks, technical readouts, head hunting with the Shadow Hawk's AC to pick off Battlemaster heads in the orig Mechwarrior PC game. Just started re-reading the 64 BT books I have collected over the years just to brush up and get ready for this game.

Started playing Mechwarrior games in 1989 when i bought my first PC (Suntac 286 AT 12 MHz).
"Mechwarrior" was one of the first 2 games i bought ("Sword of the Samurai" the other game).
Led the Blazing Aces to Victory many times, made a fortune as "Used Mech Dealer" and took revenge for my family.
Legged Battlemaster in my Jenner and roasted the Flying Skull enemy Pilots with my Marauders PPCs.
The most memorable moment was, when an enemy Mech jumped and stucked in the sky hoovering outside of my weapons fire angle.
I had a Mech with jumpjets too but could still not reach the enemy and so i jumped and crashlanded until my legs broke off and laying on the back i could fire straight upward into the sky killing the hoovering Mech.

Not much later i played Crescent Hawks Inception on my Amiga as well as my Dads old C64 (when my Amiga was roasted by a dumb friend that mistook floppy ports for the serial null modem cable port when he wanted to play Stunt Car Racer against another friend).

Had a starter Box of the TT too and TROs plus all the Novellas until the end of the Civil War - i dislike everything beyond that very much.
But my friends had no interest in playing a TT game so i ever only played a very few TT games.

All this started over 20 years back...wow...

PS: I would like if someone would make the first Crescent Hawks Inception a todays Simulation/RPG game.
I dont like the Crescent Hawks Revenge as it was a RTS game and not a RPG.

Been playing Tabletop since my teens and PC since MW2. Used to play in the BT: Lore league run by Jrah and MPBT before EA shut that down. 20+ years of this stuff. This is the first game I have truly been excited for in years.

Been playing since so long ago in the 80's.... In so many ways.... table top, RPG, dice and paper and pencil, electronic gaming (LOVE the computer games and first person games)... And my all time favorites, the Mech Pod simulators at GenCon Game Fair.

Got the Boxed Set around '87 or '88. Remember eagerly firing up MechWarrior on my first real computer (with CGA graphics) way back in the day and many long nights racing to get to the Dark Wing before the five years was up.

I remember playing a bit of the TT version in high school but it wasn't until Mechwarrior ('89) that I really got in to it. During my first year of university, there were a lot of alpha strike jokes because of it. Never really got in to the history and storylines until I found out about MWO, just enjoyed blowing stuff up in mechs.

Hello everyone, after a long time reading, I have decided to join and actively annoy people - so glad that there are still so many bt fans out there! I have been a battletech fan since I was like 8 or 9... started with the first Mechwarrior that was installed in my first pc (i386), back in 1994 give or take, then "2: mercenaries in 1996", mechcommander and so on. (even the mechassaults ^_^)The only one I haven't played is the original second, as I could never find it.. :P . In the last 2-3 years I have started reading the books, so far read 20 novels or so...
