I picked up a copy of Mechwarrior 2 that was in it's original box and everything from a thriftstore back when I was 14 and I've been hooked ever since.

I played my first MW game when I was about 13 and played everything after that up to Mech Commander. I played the board version when I was about 19 or 20 and had a blast. In total I've been playing for about 22 years.

I played the original PC game way back when but not much pen and paper over the years. MW1-4 with Mercs and add ons, but not the Living Legends (the notoriously bad network implementation of previous versions scared me off)

This is my first post on the forums so I will intro myself just a little. I am a huge MechWarrior & BattleTech fan. I have played the table top strategy game since the early 90's and have played almost all of the PC and console titles since. My favorite mechs are L.A.M.s and the Behemoth. I am so into BT that I have over 300 miniatures and 2-4'x8' game boards with movable hills, water sections, tree clusters, rural lanscapes on one side and urban on the other all hexed out, and buildings (urban and rural). As you can tell I am really into BattleTech. I hope to find a home here. :(

I started out with Mechwarrior 2. There, I learned to love fast mechs with jump-jets and PPCs. This has stuck with me ever since, even though vectored thrust (thankfully) has been removed.

I dabbled in the Table Top and RPG rules. Ran a few sessions, but found the system too unwieldy. I attempted to make a SilCore (the Heavy Gear system) module. It sort-of worked. The feel was close, but not perfect. The combat was much faster... it would still take several turns to take down a 'mech, but turns only took a few minutes. The downside is that we still had to rely on the original 'mech construction rules, then convert each 'mech over. While it worked well, that part of it felt like an awful kludge.

Roleplaying is my big hobby, so I tend to dabble in systems a great deal. I enjoy the meta-game somewhat. As far as MW/BT goes, I always find myself going back to my trusty PPCs in the end.

I played the TT game several times back in the 80's .
did mostly fantasy themed PC games until this MWO ting came along.
Looks like they are getting it right, I'm going to give it a good long try.
Still trying to decide between House or Merc.

Been playing TT since 1985 and the MW computer games since the early 90's. We used to sneak into the University computer labs with a group of friends and load the dos based game on half the systems in the lab. I can't help but smiling now when I remember us discussing how cool it would be if someone could figure out how to link the computers so we could play head to head or as a team. Who'da thunk it :)

I started with Battle Tech: Crescent Hawk's Inception back in '88, moved right on to the first Mechwarrior in '89 and have picked up every PC title since then. I've never touched the tabletop games however.

I still have my mech recognition chart from Crescent Hawk's Revenge floating around somewhere. I've been trying to find it since I found out MWO existed.

It was around 96ish when I found out about battletech/mechwarrior. I met my father for the first time, turns out he played both the boardgame [though he told me I wouldn't like it, it takes too long, little did he know how much I love it] and the videogame, including piloting in the pods. He took me to Virtual World, San Diego, and I've never looked back.

I started with Mechwarrior 1 when I was 10...that was almost 20 years ago. I've played every Mechwarrior game sense then. Played the table top a few times.
