...Someone just got headshot.
Try not to stand still while staring at mechs with large and accurate alpha-strikes?

Also since you're a legendary founder, they already have $120 of your cash and you're not getting it back.

Sniping is a skill, but not extremely hard to learn.

I <3 threads that say "I was going to do this thing, but then I got all ********, and now I totally won't!" It's right up there with the I AM LEAVING threads.

Edit: I hate you, filter.

Once you've gotten the hang of it, it's pretty easy

I've yet to seen any evidence of aimbots in this game. I've seen ample evidence that many players are quite good at this game. Mechs are very big targets and very slow moviing compared to sniping targets (read:other players) in other games, yet they have highly skilled snipers as well.

Unless you're talking about LRMs and SSRMs. In which case, there's nothing we can do for you.

If you've grown up using a mouse on a computer to do, well, anything, reaching aimbot-like accuracy, especially against a large robot, is quite easy.

Aimbot in MWO? I hadn't seen it or felt its presence so far. Aimbot is all over in Battlefield3 and you can really feel it... shots that are truly ridiculous... so far, nothing of that magnitude has been experienced in MWO...

Apart from that, hax makers already said that MWO has too small a player base to worth their time making hax for! LOL!

There are aimbots available, but I'm not sure how often anyone cheating would actually bother using it. It would probably hit center torso, not headshot you. If you're getting taken out quickly, you're standing still too much or charging against a firing line.

I am almost positive that I have seen an aim-bot in MWO. Once. And I have almost 1500 games played since OB started.

The "aim-bot" that I think I saw was using AC2s, was about 600m away from me. I was running across his field of view in my Cent 9D at about 115kph. He took out my head with a steady stream of shots.. and hit nothing but my head. I am not suprised that he killed me, nor that he took my head out. What seemed *very* suspicious to me was that he hit ONLY my head, no other damage on the mech.

Now, he might have had great aim, I might have gotten tagged by a gauss and not realized it (I am pretty sure that there were only 2 mechs remaining and neither had gauss but I might be mistaken). I am not *positive* that he was hacking, but it definately made me suspicious. So I reported him. If he was not cheating then nothing will happen. If he was, then I hope he gets banned.

There has been 2 battels in the many...many battels iv been in where I thought someone was running some sort aimbot. One of them I personaly watched someone get 5 one shot headshot kills in a row....possable yes....likely no (early build during closed beta.more than likly someone exploiting a bug)

the other battle was one guy got 6 kills 5 of them one shot head shots 1kill was in the back but the mech was all but destroyed already. (again during an early build of closed beta)

To be honest 2 battles in well over 100 where I had a FEELING someone downloaded skills is really dam good compaired to many other online games.Combat arms for instance......if you can find a lagit player in that game Ill give ya a cookie.

The fact is PGI has the core game files server side.your NOT hacking it.sure you can edit some files and MABY give yourself a miner advantage but over all.....your NOT going to find hacks for this game.

All I can say to your post OP is practice a bit more

Problem is every time PGI fixes 1 hack, the hackers find another 2-3. :D

Some People are that good, and they "AIM" for the most vulnerable spots on "ALL" mechs after finding what spots to shoot. And yes, i'm a "YANKEE", God bless William T. Sherman...!!
Not using a flight stick will help... Screen shot below from December 6th.. "NO" LRMs mounted or "ECM"

There *are* aimbots for MWO, I've seen videos of them. They keep your reticule right on a target, giving you unerring aim. They also tell you if enemies in your line of sight are able to get a lock on you.

Obviously, since cheaters greatly diminish the fun that all other players experience and thus hurt sales, a considerable amount of resources should be put on identifying the 'bot users. It shouldn't even be that difficult; it must have patterns that stand out in the telemetry enough that a program can find them automatically. Ban 'bot users permanently (making them lose their mechs, C-bills and MC) and retroactively (with telemetry recordings, you could ban someone who used a 'bot months after they've used it) and after a short while it won't be necessary to put so many resources into finding them.

However... basic, serious bugs that have been in the game for many months (like the mechlab freeze) still haven't being fixed, so it looks like PGI might simply not have the resources to maintain a game of this size, mcuh less fight hacks and 'bots on the side.

I'm still keeping an eye on the game in case some miracle occurs, but right now it looks like it's doomed...

Keeping your reticule right on target is really easy against something that's not running 90+ kph anyways, and is a great way to miss with ballistics or SRMs. I doubt such an aim bot would actually be of benefit against a good player.
