Wether you like it or not. You should get used to the fact that for PGI obviously Open Beta still truely means Beta as in: "Game's not finished, we keep testing and adding to it until it is at the pace we see fit".

But they will charge people hundreds of dollars that won't be wiped and can't be refunded.

This isn't beta, it's a live game, and seeing changes being announced now after being vehemently argued for two months ago in the beta boards is frustrating.

You're right, but they still aren't working on the issues, either that or they just won't drop any leaks that they're doing so. They tend to tell you what's going on some time in advance, so I don't think new user experiences are even on anyone's plate right now.

You can do that with any software version. People can sell ideas of software ffs. Theirs no real "law" or "code" for when you can sell software so its irrelevant. Its actually a topic thats debated about a lot because we don't know if its a good or a bad thing. I guess you can say its controversial.

I know in advance that what I'll say now will go wrong due to my limited knowledge of the english language, but I'll try anyway:

(And I'm still talking about the new player experience here.)

What if...there are no issues for PGI? At least no pressing issues? I mean...we don't have the numbers, but they have. What if the amount of new players that stays with MWO is enough for them, at least right now? I know, I know, a lot "if"s, forums are full of new player criticicing (spelled wrong I guess) the current system and maybe rightly so. But on the other hand, why should a new player that like the current system would go to the forums and tell other people about it?
What we have heard so far, from the devs, are the following statements (shortend): "trial 'Mechs aren't that bad" and "we're ok with the numbers". Sure, that could mean ANYTHING between "trial 'Mechs are bad, but not that bad" and "could be better".
PGI has said it themselfes, they have only a small team, so they have to manage their resources. And my guess is (and sure I could be very, very wrong) that the new player experience is not a pressing issue for them at the moment (and wasn't back in closed beta).

If that is true, Thorn, then it is very disappointing. The only reason why I am still here is because I really like the BattleTech franchise. I am hoping that somehow, through all this mess, the game turns for the better. But if they really don't care and are just trying to churn out as much short term cash as possible, then I will just head out and not look back. Hoping that a gaming company that actually cares about all types of players with an eye for longevity of this franchise will pick up the game.

Note: I know it kinda sounds like I'm using "beta" as some kind of excuse here, but just bare with it. Thats not what I'm saying.

Oh, they do care. I'm not asking you to suddenly love the game or anything. But at least try to have a little amount of faith. Community warfare is supposed to be the main game here. What everything is built around. And we haven't really seen it yet. If that doesn't go as planned, then its time to worry. Everything we have is for that. Look, I know its easy to think that this game will fail in a months time. But thats impossible. The publisher will AT LEAST support the game with there own money for a minimum of a year after they tagged it as release (Which is when i gather they add community warfare). They probably got 2 years thanks to the founders program. I understand that you love battletech and that you want this game to succeed. And you're scared it will dissapear in a months time. But this game could snowball to become the worst game ever made and not produce a profit and still be up after a year from now until they finally pull the plug.

Saying its too late is meaningless. So, what are you saying? They should just shut down and scrap everything? Yes, they should have put more thought into the new player experience. Is it bad enough to force a shut down and scrap? HELL NO! Theirs been worst, and there is worst. And a lot of those games still exist and are still running. Instead of talking about what they should have done, we should be talking what they should do. Its the now that matters. The present is where we live and its in the present where we can change things.

No, that wasn't what I wanted to say. I don't think they want to churn out more money in a short period of time. I mean, there are many ways to do so, like more and more expensive hero 'Mechs for example. It is possibly true that they want to generate a certain amount of money during open beta, and if its just to see what they could expect in the future and test their business model.
I know, many people wont believe that, but I do believe that bug fixing is on a higher priority for them then the new player experience for example. I'm sure they would love to do both at the same time but simply lack the resources.
The stuff they've added so far, like the paintjobs, were probably allready in the making before open beta and were just finished.
