Yes it is but why does that mean no reward signups? If I hadn't told these people they wouldn't have known or signed up to play at all. One even became a Founder. I'm not talking billions of MC or 30 free Mechs but even a token gesture like a Mech bay would be nice.

This would be our Cbill equivalent not the MC version.

Just have to put a minimum amount of time played requirement for the newly created accounts.
Referral programs DO work in F2P games, quite well too.

A lil' somethin' somethin' would be great, but I only expect to be rewarded In friendship. Lol.

STO (Star Trek Online) is a F2P game, its been working there for awhile, you just make the refering system be able to tell who you've refered pays for Prem or not, bigger reward for a paying referal then just a referal.

why should i feel rewarded for getting ppl into a game that's filled with bugs, bad netcode, ecm causes some ppl to lag (no really it does), bad matchmaker, and in general is a money making scam that's painfully obvious. now why should i feel rewarded for getting someone to know an IP that it's current form sucks compared to other f2p?
also something else, we were taught that time is money (unless that standard has changed), especially in a f2p game.

Now why would you want to be rewarded for participating in a "scam"? Are you saying that you would dupe people into a scam if you could take part of the profit? Why don't you just not tell people about it, if it's so bad?
Also I never specifically stated MWO. There are many different games / novels and whatnot in the BattleTech franchise.

Its not out of entitlement, its because its a standard in so many games, especially F2P games with RMC. Even in WoW that still is subscription based (+ item shop) you get a bonus when successfully recruiting a friend: http://us.battle.net...cruit-a-friend/

I never demanded anything except free air
In all seriousness I didn't say I was entitled nor did I even hint at it. I was wondering if I was the only one curious about referral rewards because despite the bugs and balance issues I am quite happy with the game in general and have managed to get a handful of people to join up.
I didn't go around forums spamming "hey try this awesome game and use my referral code so we can be bestest buddies forEVER!" I told only a few people that I thought would be interested and they're very likely to stick around and spend money to get MC. PGI get money for a new lump of coal out of my spreading the good word and as a thank you they could offer something back even if it's small. Maybe a Mech bay for your first X referrals but they only kick in after the referrals have played a certain amount. If a referral buys MC then you get it instantly. It isn't impossible to do in F2P games as others have said so where is the arm in asking?
