Interesting... what's wrong with the 4X?
Stereotypical and I don't find it that effective.
Hunchback 4G - 3 ML 2 AC5
Cataphract 3D - 4 ML 2 UAC5
Cataphract IM - 3 ML 3 AC5
And others I can't think of right now.

Yes, its true that if you just want to play ACs and MLs the 4X is pretty redundant. The perfect mech would be the Muromets in this aspect. 4X is attractive only because of the flexibility given by the LRM5.

I think it doesn't help that I had high expectations for the 4X and low expectations for the others. I ended up disappointed by the 4X but love all the other Cataphracts. I've kept my 4X (2 AC10 2 MPL) but it's collecting dust.

I think that if we place 4 UAC/5s on it we'll have just enough room for 4 tons of ammo.
Yikes - I chew through 6 tons of ammo with 2 UAC5 really quickly so I'm not sure how that's going to work. 4 AC5's though...

Even with Double Heat Sinks, most of them seem to perform better than the high end energy weapons..

As for this game, I've got a Hunchback 4h that packs every different size of AC at times. My K2 is running the rather cheesy dual AC/20 loadout (but damned if I can't take out and Atlas like he's not even there), and I've got an Ilya running with 3 UAC/5s.
Unfortunately I'm being swayed to the darkside that is SRMs. Please, save me.

Embrace the SRM. It's quite satisfying to JJ over an Atlas in an A1 and unload 36 SRM's into his face.

In MW3 League play we would run Thors/Avatars with Dual UAC20's. If you land both AC's you would knock them over and kill them with the next shot.

Good, they should... Not only are they heavy as hell, but they need cooling and copious amounts of ammo as well.
