I'm here wondering who they're making it for, though it's most likely for the Federated Suns, and kept secret at request of the Davion government. Wouldn't surprise me if Hanse is trying to gear up for another invasion like the one he orchistrated back during the 4th Succession War.

Which was masterfully done, might I add.

Not masterfully done so much as written with all the "badguys" being idiots with no intelligence systems, and all the "good guys" being brilliant, morally sound (it's fine for a mid 40 year old guy to marry an 18 year old princess and start a war that will kill billions of people right Hanse?), and always get the jump on the enemy.
The novels about the 4th succession war was written with incredible bias, the Capellans especially were unable to put one foot ahead of another let alone run a war.

That's what happens when you plan out your invasion and spend years and years and years preparing for it in advance. Not to mention that the Fededrated Suns has a beastly Intel network to begin with and had the aid of the Lyran Alliance and all of their vast resources. Oh, and surprise always helps, too.
If you're complaining about bias then you haven't read the books about how Sun Tzu Liao picked the pieces of his nation back up after his mother's insane rule tore it apart. Things tend to go to the pot when you have consecutive bad rulers.

Sounds good to me.

He just wanted to get her something nice! You just hate the Capellan Confederation, since you don't think it would make a nice gift.

Do have to admit, Capellans being cut down from the inside, League having their usual internal strife, and not to mention Takashi Kurita's arrogance and betrayal of the Wolf's Dragoons, leading to the 'Death to Mercenaries' act for the Combine, the odds were stacked in favor of the Lyran and Suns. Let's face it, if it weren't for Theodore's, Takashi's son whom he was estranged with, cunning yet risky move in 3039, a larger portion of the Combine would have been taken over.
