I tend to play less based on weight class, and more based on how interesting each individual chassis is to me. For instance, the Assault class has the Atlas, which is a wonderfully iconic mech that I'll likely try to pick up if only out of nostalgia (when I can afford it), but I'm also intrigued by the Hunchback and Centurion, as I've gotten to see both before (Mechcommander II for the hunchback, a book I read for the Centurion) but never played either. The only heavy that I'm terribly intrigued by is the Dragon right now, mostly because I hadn't heard of it before and the visual design appeals to me, kind of like an inner sphere version of a Mad Dog/Vulture, but with an autocannon.

So, I suppose with the current information on the game I'm mostly into mediums with a few points of interest higher up the weight scale.

Lights, primarily, then heavies and mediums after that. Most assaults (barring the Highlander and a few other exceptions) I find kinda boring, so probably not them.

Mainly lights, with some medium side action when I need more firepower.

~45 to 70 tons or so. It will depend on the exact 'mech choises and how they handle in the game.

Origianlly I was thinking medium, and might still go there. But as a designated scout for the Royal Terra Guard I figure I should log some time in the small guys and discover what speed is neccessary for actual scouting before I try to dial in a medium for scouting purposes.

I'm going to be rolling around in a Dragon, so I voted heavy even though it is really a chubby medium.

Mediums for the most part, may switch it up at times depending on what's available. But, mediums are the jack-of-all-trades for a reason, you can make 'em do whatever you want.

Need a scout that can provide a resonable amount of harassing fire? Check
Need fire support? Check
Need a brawler? Check
Need something to stand on the line and give as good as they get? Check

the "jack of all trades" sounds nice until you realise it's at the expense of "master of none"

I'm torn between Medium and Heavy so I'll most likely end up playing both. You can do alot with the mediums but I also like the firepower and armor of heavys.

Me, i like a challenge so its LIghts all the way, unless Piranha goes the way of WOT and gives no respect to the Light pilot. If most people are going Medum even better for us light pilots. I like to be the eyes and ears of the team and i like the satisfaction that comes when a little o light mech KOs a bigger mech, kind of the rush i am sure David had after the pwned Goliath 8)

I always end up gravitating towards the biggest thing in all games so assault will be my main playing role

I'll probably start with a medium to keep costs down while I see how things work. Eventually move up to a heavy or assault because take it while dishing it out is what I seem to do best in most video games. Eventually I'll probably have at least one of each class to go with my mercurial mood.

I'm going to guess that we'll all start with x amount of cash to buy a mech/parts with and it'll be enough to probably buy some of the cheapest mechs. Anyone ever play Gran Turismo? You get like 14,000 starting cash and have to decide what piece of crap to pick from the new car dealership or wait for something good in the used cars dealers. Anyway, my guess is that we'll all slowly make our way up to the most expensive mechs, but I'll probably be playing the mediums most often, i like a balance between speed, firepower, and armor, either that or a K-2 Catapult sounds way sexy to me.

ah GT, the feeder soundtrack in that brings back memories. Such a shame they went all serious and depressing after the drummer incident

Interesting seeing how the poll is turning out, PGI said that's kind of the amount they wanted for each if I remember correctly. But I'lbe playing an Assault without a doubt. Especially working on specializing it and customizing it in the ML.
