There are a few things that have frustrated me a little bit with MWO.

First, radar is rather irritating. While I can agree with target locks requiring at least a spotter, radar should still be able to detect enemy mechs in most cases. What I suggest are a few ideas.
1 - Sensors can display enemy mechs without the ability to target. Enemies will show up on the scanner so you have an idea of where the enemy is currently located. Obviously, the range on this would be relatively small, and perhaps some maps could include "sensor ghosts". The volcanic level is one good example, as ferrous material in the area could show up as fake mechs.
2 - Add possible equipment, such as drones. This would allow a pilot to equip a piece of equipment that allows them to launch a high-altitude device that can act as a spotter, giving battlefield awareness to a team that uses it (similar to the MechWarrior reboot video).

Second, focus fire. In a non-voice connected team, focusing fire can be a bit of a pain without someone calling out targets in chat. Having the ability to target friendly units, and then lock on to their target, or the ability to place some kind of visible mark on the HUD so a team can directly target an enemy machine would be fantastic.

Third, and I am not sure if this is possible (could be a limitation with the engine), but destructable terrain would be amazing. There are several cases of buildings or obstacles that would be great targets. Oil tanks currently act as barriers for enemy fire. But having the ability to deal enough damage to said tanks to cause them to explode (thus damaging anything in the area) would be a great addition. Also, being able to pulverize other buildings would be great as well. The number of times I've seen a target slip behind a building as 40 LRMs slam into it only to see the building unscathed has been very damaging to the immersion. Battlemechs are supposed to be able to literally level entire city blocks. It would be nice to see this in game.

Finally, targeting in general. While I understand that there is a certain level of finesse involved in this game, there are certain things that are beyond frustrating, such as trying to kill a light mech in an assault, and taking WAY too much damage in the process. I would like to see a possible piece of equipment, the Targeting Computer, that could be installed in a mech. This device would give a leading icon that adjusts depending on the weapon you have selected. If you fire your shot into the icon, the selected weapon will hit (so long as the opponent doesn't suddenly change direction, jump, or suddenly slow. Especially for autocannons and PPC's, this would be a great addition. This was included in MW3, and I have seriously missed it since.
