Except that maybe over time, it's looking like that pugging is going to be used for established groups to scout for talent.
I wouldn't be shocked if there's options for pugs/no pugs/don't mind in the match finder at some stage.
Being in voice communication is a strong tactical advantage, as is being aware of your compatriot's mechs, load-outs and play styles.

I keep pointing out that doing 4 random man drops on TS is still a pick-up group, just with voice chat.
But what most people refer to is a PUGer is someone who just clicks Launch by himself, and has no group or voice com, and is grouped with other random players.

*This be a joke post*
We are not PUGers.
We be Legion....of pubs.
^(o.O)^
We also be the largest group in virtually every game.
But also the most unorganized with little to no communication between members.
Muhahahaha!~ *Cue dramatic music*
We also be known for our ingenuity at finding ways to lose:

Edit. Well then. Found a new word that is filtered.
I'll try again.
Some one who indulges in suffering and pain.
100% pugger.

All are welcome at the Federated Sun (House Davion) open teamspeak. Just install the teamspeak client, and head on over to the server in this post:

Just go into a channel with less than 4 people and ask if they are looking for more (Or go to the waiting to drop room)

This is the thread about TeamSpeak servers, which is a good place to start. If you like you can also join a mercenary corp (giuld, clan, whatever you want to call it) in the forum section for that. Both are great ways to get a little more coordination in your game. There are several non-english servers available as well.

There is some disagreement about what a PUG actually is, but there's basically three groups.
1. Lone wolves who just click launch and play.
2. Random premades who go into TS or similar program and form a group with whoever is there (they are talking to each other, but may not be fully coordinated).
3. Full premades are usually merc corps who play together on a regular basis. They often have assigned roles, and some follow military-style command structures.
To some 1 and 2 are PUGS, and to others only 1 is a PUG. It depends on who you ask.
All are fun to be in, and you can have great, well coordinated games with any style. Your chances of good teamwork do go up as you go from 1 to 3.
