Never?

Try googling "BF3 client side hit detection hack" and you will get the other side of the story about why client side hit detection is bad ...

Netcode vs. cheating ... which would you prefer?

Well its funny, all you need right now to cheet is Netflix, so, gold star!

I would prefer client side hit detection as well

I wouldn't, Clientside would mean someone could stay at base and headshot everyone in game, clientside means aimbots that actually work...clientside is bad.

So you're saying with the current system there will be absolutely no hackers?

There will be hackers, but it will be easier to detect and less effective than clientside, also Lag effects the aimbot as well as any aimbot would not currently hit a high ping light.

A hacker will ruin the game for a few players on occasion, til they get reported and banned. While a bad netcode makes the game crap for everyone.

Think about that...

This

Hackers are part and parcel of online gaming, expect them no matter what we do. Lets not allow hackers to ruin the game for people with high ping.

can't really ban f2p hackers, and Clientside hit detection has more issues than just hacking. Whereas when the netcode gets fixed most issues of server-side will go away.

Client side hit detection is the worst bullcrap ever concieved. It's a monumental failure in elemental authoritative server-client responsabilities and just plain sucks.

Anyone who has played BF3 knows of the dreaded "shot behind cover" effect that it creates, where in your client you are perfectly hidden, but then some other guy who has 1000ms ping sees you in the open after you have taken cover due to lag and kills you. It is the most rage inducing thing ever.

It basically rewards you for having higher ping in some cases, and lower ping in others.

No. For the love of Kerensky, just no.

Yeah, that happens. I know and have been frustrated by it. But then I remembered I wouldn't be playing at all if not for client side.

"Clientside Hit Detection"

.
If you're asking for it, then your asking to get "CURBSTOMPED" by hackers...
.
Don't believe me..?? Look it up... And as some said before me, look at BattleField 3, I got multiple people banned for running walls, and aimbots in that game... Member Affiliated, PunkBuster

Its not. I quit because of the ****** client side hit detection. Do you even understand how client side hit detection works?
Common, explain it to everyone for me.

Right, the obvious solution to stopping people from hacking is to make it so nobody can hit anything, then its balanced (unless you live in america, then your allowed to shoot stuff).

Or just wait until they have servers in more widespread areas...

A lot of opposition with regional servers. Something about splitting community something something.

Cheating. Hands down. If I am able to point at what I want to hit instead of 3-mech lengths to the side of it, not to mention being able to aim for a specific part of a mech, rather than just guess at where that part will be a second from now and hope for the best, I'm willing, if not happy to put up with an aim botter or wall hacker every few matches.

have it to where you can choose where you want to play...like *GASP* BF3. Have it default to all regions.

or you could wait until they fix the netcode...which is a number 1. priority.

It's called, "Punkbuster"

Sure, you can cheat, a few times. Then your account gets banned. Problem solved.

until punkbuster starts kicking people out of servers for no reason, which has happened multiple times, which could potentially hurt F2P sales.

problem with that is this is a F2P game as well. Throw away accounts and all that.
