I got no issue having to recenter it with black on the edges or whatever, but how do I change my tiny one to this?

Well thank you for asking nicely..and (why does that bother you in any way!)
I "like" my own postings just as much and as often as I like other peoples post... there is no rule on how to use the "like" tab so I "like" as I see fit... The good folks on this topic seem to like to call me insecure, immature, needy and all sorts of crap which is just not true.
I have been doing stuff for the members here for a long long time, I don't ask for anything in return, I do it all for free and on my own time, so yes I "like" what I do! and I don't really appreciate it when people try to call me out for stupid crap....WHO cares what I "like" or not "like"...I don't see the "like" police around here.
If that creeps you out I'm sorry, don't associate with me or better yet PLEASE report me to the "like" police for unlawful "liking"
Whats next.... am I going to flamed for who I friend or not friend? what clan I join or not, what unit I join or not....
I don't think so buddy.....
As long as MWO let's me click that little button....I will.
I think it is more of a travesty and a tragedy that so many other people never "like" or "friend" anyone else.

It's hard to be "artistic" in 80px height when everyone wants a 'mech crammed in there too. All sigs are somewhat plagiarised, very few will create original art for it to be used in this format. Be it a screenshot or render, you're taking somebody else's work and applying effects and your own composition until it looks decent.
Yes, I feel dirty doing it but I and most others don't have the time to make an original masterpiece every time we're asked to create a signature (for free in spare time).

While I can agree with the sentiment, one can take it too far... after all, all one does when taking a photo is copy "someone else's work" so to speak, or capture what is already there. But a talented photographer is still very much an artist.
I prefer to work with my own two hands, but I must admit, the lessons that taught me have translated to my eye for trying digital stuff, and since I have never worked in the digital domain, I find these to be good practice. I guess I look at it like Hip Hop music..... even though 99% of it is based off samples of someone else's work, it DOES still take creativity to "re-imagine" it into an interesting form (even if I loathe most Hip Hop). Not as much as it took maybe to create the original, but still some talent.
Nice work tho!
