Welcome to the Robinson Rangers Brigade recruitment office! If you are viewing this document then you have expressed a certain interest in serving alongside men and women of the Robinson Rangers and serving the greater Federated Suns.

Our History

The First Robinson Rangers alongside their sister regiment, The Second Robinson Rangers, were originally a brigade of volunteer militia formed for the defense of Planet Robinson, the Capital of the Draconis March in the days before the collapse of the Star League. This unit was known as the "Robinson's Rangers." The unit was completely annihilated to the last man during a heroic defensive action against the Draconis Combine during the First Succession War. The valiant actions of this under manned, and under equipped militia prevented Draconis forces from securing a defensible position on the planet before additional Davion loyalists could be brought to bear.

Due to the heroic sacrifice of these volunteers in defense of their home, Prince Peter Davion commissioned two BattleMech regiments, to be named after the original unit. These two regiments were the First Robinson Rangers, and the Second Robinson Rangers.

The Robinson Ranger Brigade these days consists of three regiments, nine battalions, each made up of three companies four lances to each company. Each lance consists of four active members. There is also a small group of Reserves who can be called upon during times of emergency.

A little bit about us.

We are a roleplaying unit with about 220+ members at this time. 60% of our members are either ex-military or still currently serving. We have members from around the world which makes one of our few requirements that you be able to speak english. We consist mostly of 20+ players who are fun loving and mature. We are looking for new members of a similar mindset, who enjoy roleplaying and playing Mechwarrior. We do not expect constant activity, but activity a couple of times a week on our TeamSpeak while playing is expected. You are also expected to be aware of any dispatches put out on our forums.

If you are interested in joining our unit, please stop by our website and fill out an application form.

conjunction with the AFFS Material and Logistics commander in the region, the Rangers have been slated to recieve new Battlemechs to replace some of the older, more obsolete models that are currently within thier arsenel. Approximitely thirty Cataphracts CTF-3D's and fourteen Cataphract CTF-1X were delivered via Davion dropship yesterday morning. Pilots and technicains alike are hard at work learning how to get the most out of this new Battlemech.

One of the pilots recieving a new CTF-1X, Lt. Brian "Strikahr" Curtis, stated, and I quote, "Its 'bout [censored] time they gave us some new 'Mechs. I been waitin' for this gorgeous lady to roll off the line since I read about it in one of our AFFS briefin's."

In addition to the new Cataphtacts, the Rangers are slated to recieve new Jagermechs, a direct fire support 'Mech, here in the next few months, as well as improved electronic systems such as Guardian ECM and Beagle Active Probes.

The video footage begins, tickertape updates scrolling at the bottom of the screen and the watermark logo marking this as DMN - the News Channel of the Draconis March. In white, bold text on a red banner, it reads "Interview with MechWarriors - Leikner Keele, Captain, L Company"

Out of the screen, a woman's voice is asking questions. In the footage is a slender male with slightly messy hair growing over his ears, a central partition. The hair is kept out of his eyes with a bandana. The man looks to be of mixed racial ancestory, with a slight point to the eyes suggesting Kuritan blood, with gaunt, angular features and a distant look in his cerulean eyes. His olive fatigues and rank markings put him to be a MechWarrior, with the rank of Captain. The nametape over his chest reads "L. KEELE"

Woman: Thank you for taking the time to speak with us today, Captain Keele.
Keele: It's my pleasure.
W: You're currently a Junior Officer in the 2nd Regiment, 4th Batallion, is that correct?
K: I am, yes. I have the honour of being the Executive officer for Lima Company, leading the Scout Lance.
W: And tell us, what's involved in being a Captain of the Rangers?
K: At the moment we're currently on pre-deployment, it's a phase wherein we're on station at the homeworld, pending orders or patrol. I take my unit from the ground up from the recruits that Command puts under me, and eventually we come to full numbers. Thanks to the work of myself and my superior, Major DeVere, Lima Company is running at 100%.
W: Take us through a typical day of yours.
K: Not much to tell, I imagine it's like anyone's 9 to 5.
W: Except not everyone's 9 to 5 involves fighting the Red Dragon.
K: We fight anyone the Prince requests we fight, Miss. But my typical day usually involves personal exercises to start with, running with my Lance Mates, hitting the gym after breakfast. Reviewing tactical logs, performance logs, screening prototype configurations of our 'Mechs and tactics in certain environments. Our Logic Engines can only run certain landscapes in a range of temperatures, so the more we fight in them the better we get, learning the land.
W: Can I ask a more personal question?
K: You can ask.
W: You're one of the few Robinson natives of mixed blood. Is that a difficulty for you?
K: *A pause* It isn't something I resent. It has caused some conflict when I was training, but much as the Great Justin Allard of our Intelligence Service, it has its benefits. Though he is of Chinese linage.
W: And what would you say to any FedCom Citizen who wanted to become a 'MechWarrior of the Rangers?
K: Well, firstly you must know what 'Mech you wish to pilot, for no-one can go far without a desire to reach towards. Put yourselves through the right training, perhaps the RBA, and get in contact with Command once qualified. It isn't an easy process - but a very rewarding one.
W: Thank you for your time!
K: Of course.

I don't mind an interview, I got plenty of tails both positive and negative on the field of battle. Usually involving Blood and Blood gods! :)

Sitting in the shade from the Hollo-Sun here in the great training dome on Robinson, outside it is early sunrise 0520 hours, Soloron Darius-Kane was contemplating the changes he has had to endure since pursuing his dream of being a true Mech Warrior. He had grown up in the slums of Solarus, and even there, in the midst of all that squalor, they have the simulators for the kids who have the money to play at being a Mech Warrior, and Soloron seemed to have much more money than most of the other kids, but it wasnt because his family had money, he was just quick with his hands and often found coins lying around, in easy reach, begging to be quicked away. And with those coins Soloron would practice, and practice, and practice; He got to the point where much older boys would challenge him, and then get angry because some little kid was beating them, but Soloron didn't care, he didnt even mind the fat lips or bloody noses. He just loved thinking of himself as a Mech Warrior.

Since having arrived on plante Robinson, he had had to come to accept that while he was better than all the kids on Solarus (or at least it felt that way), he was just another young pilot here in the Rangers. In his 27 months of service he had been on 3 outings of various lengths into live action and he had yet to manage to accomplish anything that could be considered even remotely heroic; heh, when he came to the Rangers, Soloron was certain he would be proving his heroism at least once per week...what a wake up call.

So three days ago he had been called down by Capt. Maverick, the training officer. Capt. Maverick wanted him to lead a company of new recruits in a training command. The Capt. said he knew Soloron was bucking for promotion, and this would help him with understanding the challenges of leading men while allowing command the opportunity to observe him in action if they wanted. Soloron recognized the opportunity for what it was, agreed with the captain's assessment, and thanked him heartily. His own commanding officer, Capt. Raz., short for Razor. had agreed with them and given him a temporary, 5 day working leave permit in the hopes that the exercise may "sharpen up his too dull-a-wit," as the Capt. put it in his half serious, half caring tone.

This obviously wasn't Soloron's first time down here in the TD (Training Dome), which is a vast underground structure, large enough to hold a small city, and is equipped with much of the best training equipment C~Bills can buy, chief amongst those are over 90 of the best 3-D, fully responsive, Hyper-Real, Military Grade, combat simulators. Remembering back to when he first arrived here at the Rangers, and private Esko had come & given these lessons; Esko is a Sgt. Major now and running the Red Co. in 9th Bat. He has come a long way in this short time. And during those first exorcises Soloron did not blend so well, he couldnt handle the challenge, and was constantly complaining that the system was rigged, there must be something wrong, because he had run thousands of simulated drops in Solaris and he had always been in the top 3 of every drop; the rangers would laugh, pat him on the back, and welcome him to the real world kid. It was quite possibly the hardest, most humbling thing he had done to that point in his life; even worse than burrying his entire family, 4 grand parents, parents and 3 sisters. Life in the slums sucks.

And he sat here this morning, sipping a tepid cup of Joe, wondering, amongst other things, how he was going to make these new recruits understand just how different their lives will be if/when they do graduate through and become a ranger. Heh...Maybe he will start with reminding them that they are lower than Maggots, and proving to them by running them around the Dome, twice, and then having them all get in a simulator and try to take out a single Atlas DDC with 4 mechs. Yeah, that seems like a good plan.

And after all of that is done, I will welcome all you new recruites to our great unit. I encourage you to embrace and enjoy the commeradery, it may save your life.

To speak in a manner that isn't in character - the Robinson Rangers is a great unit for RPers and non-RPers alike. We're trialing a new system of in character drops which has gone down really well, but otherwise we're all here to play the game just like the rest of you!

A great community for artworks, character short stories and colabs as well as the usual stuff that most other Brigades don't offer!

Speaking as someone who has ridden with the Rangers for a few months now, I can honestly say that this is one of the most mature and easy going units I've ever played with, in any game. As long as you're looking to have a good time without any drama and want to kill some Dracs, the Rangers might be just the place for ya.

For Kentares!

RRIS (Robinson Rangers Information Service) 10. Dec. 3049

On December 07th, 3049 a group of pilots from the Robinson Rangers Brigade were mobilized from their respective combat zones in order to provide an elite force to support Federated Commonwealth Regimental Combat Teams dropping in on the world of Lagcher.

Lagcher, a military-industrial planet on the outskirts of the Draconis March has long been a primary production facility for autocannons and laser type weaponry; making it a top priority to be re-taken from the Draconis Combine forces that had begun an assault upon the planet.

A full company of Robinson Rangers including callsigned: Grimm, Feniqs, Abiku, Damu, Ulot, Sieghard, Jboscoe, LordAres and IdentifyZero broke into two lances referred to as PaPa and Zulu Lance. While Grimm commanded Papa Lance and Jboscoe commanded Zulu Lance, Zero maintained operational control and provided full reports to the other forces landing on the planet.

Operating ahead of the main force, the Rangers were tasked with securing the primary drop site, a mountainous area that also contained an HPG array in the nearby area that had been evacuated in haste for unknown reasons by the ComGuards. The Rangers proceeded to secure the primary drop site before receiving orders that a high value enemy target was on the field, the enemy commander himself; General Hun Li Singh in his custom Atlas.

It was clear now that General Singh was a priority target, the man had been charged by a war tribunal five years ago for mass ******** of civilians on several FedCom worlds, a Draconis DEST team had rescued him and he had been sewing terror ever since. Abandoning their defensive position, the company of Rangers began a blitzkrieg upon the enemy position and despite several casualties, they were able to utterly destroy the enemy mech. An unnamed pilot later confirmed Singh’s demise with a bullet to his head, assuring he would not have the chance to escape his execution again.

Even as the Rangers proceeded upon the HPG station to secure it and help maintain a better relationship with ComStar, the sight of the incoming dropships could be seen. The Rangers had secured the drop zone for the invasion force, Lagcher would once again return to the Federated Commonwealth and her citizens had been freed from the tyranny of the Draconis Combine.

Report from the front lines:
Currently our Techs are snowed under repairing Communication units.
Apparently the new thread on Teamspeak (how to get the most out of it) has driven our pilots to new heights and this has caused several Raven Pilots to burn out their Comms gear.
As soon as the new parts arrive from the Hellespont Industries factory on Sian our Techs have assured High Command that they will have these mechs up and running in no time.
