everytime I get out my K2 catapult, no matter what I have on it, everyone always gangs up on me first, even if my whole team has my back, or if I have the most armor. I use the EXACT same tactics for my Huchback 4SP with 3 Large lasers, and I rarely ever get killed in it.

when I drive my hunchback, with 1 less large laser, I get more kills, better damage-per-round, and just dont get ganged up on, but when I drive my K2 (wich has more armor, is faster, and has 4 large lasers and DHS instead of 3 large lasers and DHS) I get stomped into the dirt, regardless if our team gets stomped or not

am I just doing something wrong? does the K2 have a bigger hit-box for the torso or something? or am I just really unlucky?

It is viewed as a very powerful variant there for people will target you first because you are deemed a threat.

See: GaussCat and AC20Cat hatred threads....

Well, generally, ill prioritize a K2 over anything else, because with a little focus fire they go down quick, and their potential armaments can be devestating.

After I saw you fire large lasers though, i may pick a more important target. Unless you were shooting me of course lol.

K2 has a larger head box, and probably a bigger CT than a Hunchback. Also, due to all the gauss K2's it gets a lion share of fire. People don't see Hunchbacks as a priority threat target.

.
Catapults are "EASY" to facepunch/core, that is why I shoot at "ALL" Catapults first... If they happen to be a Streak-Cat, or Gauss-Cat it doesn't matter, just a bonus as I walk past their smoking remains to kill their teammates...

LLS are quite dangerous staggered 2 and 2 with an ac2/5 on the end i avoid brawling with it because thats not what it was designed for lol 4 erppcs may seem like a troll build but if you go in 8v8 with a good team you strip all the cts on the field before they even get close XD

Not as dangerous as dual gauss, or dual AC20, or almost any atlas....

no more so as no lead required and you can pace and fire constantly with a 2 second break between shots and at a longer range than ac20s and with more directed fire than 2 gauss atlas is a bit of a duh though

Well, it has 36 alpva VS 30 Gauss alpha VS 40 AC20 alpha. And yes, I can hold these lasers on one location =)
Do not underestimate the 4LLs cats. I just really saw very few pilots, who can handle them properly, though.

Dual AC/20 Cat can kill anything in one salvo. If your a good shot, you should definitely give it a try.

Nothing funner then 1 shooting an Atlas, and having the other pilots jaw drop.

A mech is only as good as its pilot. My current fave is my AC20 Cat.. Yes, my guns are deadly, but it is balanced by the armor and engine concessions I made. That said, I feel I am good with the weapons, and commonly take down 2-3 others before I go myself ( I pug exclusively). I have died fast before, and I have lived entire rounds.. It is all in how you play, and how well you know your mech..

K2's like all Catapults need to be piloted with a bit of reservation. They're poor brawlers due to the lack of arm swing and massive CT/HD. They do torso twist quite fast though.

That said I've had good success with my Gausspult pre/post patch.

Your difficulties are because the K2 Cat has a slightly bigger target profile, and a severely larger reputation as an imminent threat...so people are killing you faster, both intentionally and coincidentally.

Right now, I fly Dragon a lot...so I know exactly how much difference the target profile can make from mech to mech- oddly though, because I fly Dragon I see a lot of opponents make questionable decisions when engaging me based on them not being as familiar with the Dragon as other more popular/prominent mechs.

i guess people assume u are a gausskat or something. my K2 has 2 LL and 2 MPL. so i usually stay far enough i dont get wooped.

The K2 has about as much armor as a hunchback. im not sure if that says eomting about hunchback being well armored or the catapult being underarmored.

If you have dual Gauss or dual AC20 or multi-SRM in your Cat your to-hit priority will be significantly high. Have a nice day!

Enemies are assuming you're a Gausspult, which now kill their owner almost instantly in a fight. Assuming you aren't a Gauss user(And rightfully so. Only people with a deathwish run that build anymore), they might be thinking you have 2 AC 20s, which can basically instant gib people. The K2 is more of a threat than any Hunchback because of this. The Hunchback can't use 2 Gauss or 2 AC 20s. It's going to have more missile or energy instead, which is much less threatening. Technically a laser boat can match your damage in burst potential, but he'll fry himself to shutdown in 2 alphas.

Dear Original Poster,

Don't hate on them, they are just racist. All cats look the same to them, and some K2 drivers are going around giving the rest a bad name by one shotting things out of existence. You can't blame them for thinking that you're one of those "bad guys" that they have reflexively come to fear.

Sincerely,

Unrepentant Splatapult Driver
