So, I dropped $100 on MC earlier, because there were some things I wanted to do customization wise, and I've been lucky enough lately to "fall" into some money. Seeing as how MWO is an important project to me as a Battletech fan, I felt it would be worthwhile to invest a bit more money into it.

However... not everyone out there is so lucky. So I wanted to bring the idea back up, since it seems burried. About a conversion rate of some kind of a type of "earnable" something to MC conversion.

I say something because, well frankly, I'm not sure what would be used here. For instance, i StarTrek Online it's Dilithium Crystal that get's refined into ore that you can then trade for Paid currency. In Champions Online: It's Questionite which can be refined again and once more traded for Paid Currency.

MWO currently has nothing like this. Perhaps in the mythical "Community Warfare" mode we could use Loyalty points or Merc ponts or something that we gain at a slow rate to convert to MC.

Perhaps we could convert C-bills into MC for a huge price... 10MC for every 1million C-bills... Or even GXP.

Obviously PGI/IGP would have to work on the conversion rates... but why don't we have this? It's severaly limiting the free player base... if they like it, they may choose to pay instead of grind.

You should be able to convert Mech XP into GXP at a reduced rate X MXP = 1 GXP or something which makes it possible but not optimal.

The only way to acquire MC is by spending money, since that is the only way IGP makes money I can't see that changing.

Yet there are other successful F2P games that offer the ability to "grind" for the paid currency at a very GRINDY rate... like, it's insane the grind for this stuff, but it's there.

The insentive is that, yes, they're giving you the option, but in the end you may break down and buy some MC to make up the difference.

Most F2P games that start out with a cash only currency end up making it obtainable in game by the end of their first year. I suspect MWO will follow this path, and indeed I have a feeling that it's basically our fault the prices are so high and there's no GXP-MC conversion yet. It's all our pesky founders gold.
