For now I have been spectacting when dead. However, I was wondering... if I die can I leave early (Exit game, etc) and jump to a new game with another mech.. and still KEEP the cbills that would be earned in the original battle?

YES! if you disconnect after being killed, you will get whatever C-bills and XP you earned during the match. It will be added to your account when the match is finished. The mech that you used in the match will be locked down and unavailable for use until the match ends, but you can drop in a different mech.
If you don't care about the outcome of the match, and aren't interested in watching other players to learn how (not) to pilot a mech, dropping from the game once you get killed can allow you to get more matches in and make more money per hour.
It is considered poor form to run blindly into combat with the aim of getting killed as fast as possible in order to drop from the match and start another. Stick with your team and try and take a few enemies down with you. Killing mechs is what this game is about, not grinding out C-bills.

It also gets you far less XP and CBs then actually playing right (spotting and assisting in kills gets you a lot of both even if you are a beginner). Helping your team win earns you a lot of CBs and XP and provides playing experience even if you didn't kill anything (getting a kill and losing earns less XP and *much* less CBs then assisting your team and winning without a personal kill). The idiots farming for CBs aren't getting any experience and get blown away as soon as they step out with their expensive mechs. Then they come on the forums and complain that whatever killed them is OP...

Thanks for the information. What I hate is when I launch the game sometimes I get a yellow screen, black screen, or complete drop to Desktop. However, since I am new to this MW game, I am trying to figure out how not to die and contribute.

The yellow screen and black screens and CTD's are known issues that are being looked into. Unfortunately there is no ETA on fixes for them. On yellow screens you can still pull up team chat and let your squad know, then charge off into battle and try and kill someone anyways, because you might as well try

I actually just got that yellow screen as well.....sent a message to my teammates and someone told me to press right-shift + f11
It clears the screen from the yellowness but you lose the chat window and all hud electronics. I was however able to pump out a good amount of damage before dying (think i was actually top damage on the team - was a bad game from the beginning)
Anyways, back on topic....good to know that if we get disconnected or dont have time to spectate we still get the XP and cash.

Another tip is to hit the 'H' key and go into infared vision mode. It doesn't remove the yellow screen effect, but I find it's easier to see whats going on around you.

answer is still yes. once your mech is destroyed it makes no difference whether you stay or not.

As said above by bar10jim.
To be more clear, at the point your mech is destroyed, you are awarded xp/cash for anything you accomplished up to the moment of your death. Your kills, etc are all credited and you can leave without losing anything you earned directly.
However, anything you might have earned by sticking around - kill assists on enemy mechs that are destroyed after you died, capturing the enemy base, and a few other things - are only awarded to you if you hang around until the match actually concludes. These are the things your team mates may accomplish after you die. Example, you spot and then shoot an enemy Light mech (then die for some reason). If your team kills that mech later in the match, and you are still there watching the match, you will get a Kill Assist credit for it. If you already quit the match and went back to the Mechlab, you won't get any credits/XP or stats for that assist.
You can test this yourself by taking a moment to note your stats on the screen after you die. Once you have made a note of how many assists and XP/cash you made, go ahead and spectate the match. Compare the stat screen when the match ends to the first one you saw. It will almost always show higher rewards, and the difference between the two will tell you how much it was worth to stay and watch the match.
I have adopted a policy of only dropping out of a match (on death) if I had an early total fail, or if I am in a hurry to run through several different mechs to earn the Daily Double bonus. Total fail = did no damage, got TK'd, didn't get a UAV off or spot anyone...in other words I died early and without contributing at all. This is extremely rare, so I typically stay in the match and spectate until the end. My earnings have significantly increased, especially if I use my UAV effectively.
That bears repeating - if you used an UAV in the match to spot a bunch of enemy mechs, you really want to stick around to the end for the extra payout on spotting/C-ECM, etc.

When I'm pugging and farming C-Bills, I'll stay and spectate if I've landed hits on much of the enemy force. If I die early and landed hits on 3 or less, I'll usually leave the match and start another.
Playing in a group, I'll always stay and spectate.
