Mad? No. Actually, I thank them for washing the dirt off my windshield. They're water pistols.

So....you kill him with lasers + Gauss and then give credit to your worthless MGs?

hmmm....

I think what he was saying was that he runs in blasting with MGs, so the target decides to ignore him and engages another enemy. Then he starts blasting with the big guns in the weak rear armor. I think.

I don't know, if I have an extra ballistic hardpoint open, I try to make the 1.5 tons available to equip an MG and some ammo. I said it before in another thread. When armor is low, I'll start spamming my MG during and between all my salvos.... If I should happen to disable a weapon in the hardpoint I'm grinding down, then I can immediately switch to the next most threatening hardpoint. This is unbelievably useful in Atlas vs Atlas duels. The other mech where I usually have a free ballistic hardpoint for an MG is my Cataphract 3D.

You don't have to use them. But I like them, and they have gained me valuable seconds many a time, so don't rip on me for liking them. :)

i like to narrate in my head when i'm spectating someone using machine guns "inconceivable! my unleashing of small metallic objects moving at moderate speeds appear to be having no effect on this 100 ton mech's armor!" <says the pilot as he's being ignored by the atlas until 30 seconds have passed and the atlas finally notices he's being attacked>

have thought about throwing together a machine gun light for giggles but i have vowed no light shall enter my mechbay unless it is the nigh-invincible Urbanmech!
<disclaimer- this and all other vows are open to be renegotiated by the typist whenever he feels like changing his mind>

It's not that the Urbanmech is nigh invincible. It's that no one can tell an operational one from a wreck. "Is it moving?" "Not sure, it's windy today..."

don;t discount their special camo.
pilot 1- "hey wasn't there an Urbanmech around here somewhere."
pilot 2- "i think so but it's gone now."
pilot 1 <scans everything in the area>
pilot 2- "man i hate hunting urbanmechs on trash day."
<view pans out to an Urbanmech cleverly camouflaged among rows of trashcans set out on the road waiting for pickup later in the day>
