It's not about the customer catering to the company.

Right now it needs to be a 2 way street. We have to give our patience, our time, and some of us will also give our money when we want to.

PGI in turn provides content, bug fixes, and a very fun game to play.

Logic on a game forum.. i dont know what to say

bug fixes

They keep adding new bugs, I haven't seen them fix many of the old ones.

Instead of fixing the teleporting during collisions, they just removed collisions.

So the devs opened the doors and let folks in. It isn't time to open yet and there's only fresh coffee, but they say they will accept your money if you get it yourself.

So suddenly half the people start griping loudly there isn't any fresh pie, and get rude when the proprietor just looks at them sadly.

I feel like Gabriel in 'Constantine': You should better appreciate your host.

I think this all went a little off track a long time back in the topic.

I think the OP's point was that whether or not you consider this to be a BETA or not it not the problem. The problem is the way people are dealing with mechanic choices that arent 100% or minor/major bugs that need reporting.

Even if you consider this to be BETA or not, you cant deny that it is a work in progress. Its not finished and thats what all the people who get mad and scream "F you im not playing anymore, COD is more gudder" need to realise.

Nothing good comes from flaming or screaming at the developers about a feature you think is broken just because you arent doing as well since it was implemented.

It often feels like 99% of the users on the forum dont take a minute to search and see if an issue has been raised before hitting the "Start New Topic" button and screaming their heads off and blowing something way out of proportion. As if they are owed a polished game yesterday.

All the people complaining need to get a grip of themselves or just go play something else. The rest of the community who actively and positively contribute to the game are sick of hearing you rant about what features you think are broken.

If you think there is a problem, report it, in the calmest and most civilised way possible. If not, then people arent going to take you seriously and you end up looking like a whining little child whos ran out of ritalin.

It may be techincally called "Open Beta" but, no resets, everything counts, no refunds, taking in new money. This is a soft release.

On the question of whether or not you can call this a beta:

Are all core game features implemented? If not, then it's still in beta while they finish it.

If yes, then I'd say release.

Release should be when community warfare is introduced in its 100% entirety.

Ohh philosophic debate; ok, I have one!

If you walk into a restaurant when it's closed, and give the waiter 2 bucks for a coffee, is the store open?

If the restaurant is closed, the waiter shouldn't let you in. That's how people get robbed.

Think of this as more of a "soft opening" of a retail store before the "grand opening". You can still purchase stuff, but it's not final yet.

Who knows when that will be? We haven't heard anything about it in ages. We don't even know what it is yet...

At this rate the clans are supposed to be dropping by soon. Yet we don't even know how the clan invasion is going to work.

I'm secretly sad that no one liked my Quake 3 "Denied" youtube after garth's first comment in here.

Umm fairly sure the community is doing most of the giving and PGI has mostly been giving excuses for bad decisions.

If I go to a restaurant and order a steak medium well, but get a steak that is raw, it helps no one if I just shut up and eat it. Sure some people would slap the chef with the raw steak and tell him to cook it right while others would politely tell the waiter to redo the steak, but either way he gets the message that he better make the steak right the next time.

90% of the threads are complaining and offer no constructive feedback.

You can't know how some decisions are going to turn out until after you've made them. Only in hindsight can we sometimes say that a decision was good or bad.

Every MMO developer makes mistakes along the way, that's how they learn and make a better product over time.

There has been plenty of constructive feedback on ECM, trial mechs, 3rd person view, and heat...

Man because you know no one would have ever seen that when the artemis patch hit that LRMs flying in a 90 degree angle would be a bad thing. You know thinking back if it were me I'm pretty sure I would have made the same decision LOL

You ever heard of ORM; Operational Risk Management?.... Yeah PGI hasn't.
