Ohh philosophic debate; ok, I have one!

If you walk into a restaurant when it's closed, and give the waiter 2 bucks for a coffee, is the store open?

If he gives you the coffee then yes the store is, for all intents and purposes, open.

Oh and perhaps it's just me, but none of the side-bar adverts on other sites, seem to mention Beta anymore.

The only people who care about the "beta" status are the ones who say everything is fine, it's just "beta".

In reality none of us really give a hoot if the sign says beta or not...

Fix the black screen, yellow screen, overheat screen, disconnect at the start of match, and no HUD bugs already. Who cares if the sign says beta???

Ok, then fine if it is for all purposes "live", then what? Does that change something fundementally for you?
You realize the Skyrim was game of the year and it STILL is a buggy mess after 2 major DLC patches, yet it was the fastest purchased game on Steam ever, and still is continued to be purchased and played by thousands (most likely ten's of thousands or dare i say millions) of people. Bugs occur. The developers do their best to try and isolate and if possible fix them. This game is actively being developed as you play it. Content is being delivered to you nearly monthly. Bugs are being fixed as fast as the developers can fix them. And it is all free for you if you choose. You didn't have to pay $60 for a buggy game that is still plagued with bugs and memory leaks a year after its release. You all are such an entitled lot.

It seems folks want their cake and eat it too. It's live enough to drop Beta from the ads and open up the cash shop, but Beta enough to cover the VERY limited content and buggy game-play. No MMO is ever "Finished", but there is when you are trying to infuse cash into the game to continue to fund the development is the core features of the game, a line between Beta and Live begin to blur.

the people working on bugs are not the same people doing cosmetic stuff. All these gaming companies have teams working on different projects.

I love when people parrot this. I suspect this guy will be one of the ones who say "But ... but ... it was beta!" when they shut off the servers.

All these new cosmetic features also required software development to get them into the game. PGI doesn't have 30 engineers working on this game. An educated guess is that they have about 5 guys actually writing code. Every minute spent doing that was a minute not working on more pressing gameplay issues.

All these new cosmetic issues also required UI design work (Oh, and more engineering to actually implement it). PGI doesn't have 30 UI designers working on this game. An educated guess would be ... one. Every minute spent doing that was a minute not working on more pressing UI issues (of which there are many).

So while it's really popular for apologists to say "These things don't affect other things", it's simply not accurate.

Skyrim is buggy as hell, but at least most of the bugs can be circumvented in some way or are really amusing. Plus I don't really know of a great deal of gamebreaking Skyrim bugs that aren't related to the player tinkering around.

You'll be happy to know that Dunkin Donuts is expanding again. They're adding quite a few stores to the Denver area in the next 2 years.

It may take a while to get out to you if you're in California, but it's entirely possible you'll have your coffee and donuts yet!

So if they wrote DUCK up there, it would mean MWO is a duck?!?!

If it looked like a duck, walked like a duck and quacked like a duck it would be a duck. However it looks like a beta, runs like a beta and plays like a beta. Probably a beta.

If I have a Snickers bar in my left hand, but I call it a Milky Way, guess what? Its still a Snickers bar.

They can call it beta all that want, but the game is in release!

But when you bite in to your "Milky Way" and find it full of chunky, peanutty goodness rather than delicious gooey fluff you will know it isn't a Milky Way.

However logging in to MW:O reveals it to be lacking in features, riddled with bugs and needing of balance; just what you should expect from a beta.

most companies do break up into teams. This is coming from personal experience, coding in a little bobblehead is a lot easier than redoing the net code or fixing the ui which both have been addressed by the devs.

Nope, not a beta. Sorry bud. No one forced anyone to pay anything, but people who are not in the know (about all the problems that already existed in CB) & actually think this POS is in a beta state get conned. They get conned because they buy something, maybe with real money & then that something changes. What inspired the change? A few BT crybabies. Nothing more. Perception of imbalance. That's it. You "It's beta!!!!" a$$ kissers wanna try the argument that OB was necessary to discover cheese flavored trends in the red square cap mode on 4 tiny test maps? Give it a rest.

When you're selling Xmas decorations instead of delivering bug fixes & permanent content, then you aren't in "beta" anymore. We are not the testers. We were testing in CB. We had tons of problems in CB. We told them OB is a huge mistake! They didn't need a broader audience to test, they had tons of problems to deal with while still in CB!!!!!!! Not a beta bud. They could keep dragging a$$ & fu<king up for 2 more years & still keep that "BETA" tag under the title (if enough people keep them afloat by being deluded like you are). Tell me, how does PGI's a$$h0le taste?

I'd welcome every problem in MWO if it were still in CB. I expect them to be fixed before they stop resetting stats/funds & I expect them to stop changing the way in game content functions. The resets have stopped, but in-game equipment keeps changing. PGI said it was us that grew tired of the resets, even though we insisted otherwise.

What do I know? I'm just a mouthy d0uchebag who's never coded anything before, but like most people that play games, I've played a lot. I hold MWO to the standard set by the industry & many $5 games are at a much higher level. Many free games are. Hawken OB is tomorrow. Session that for a while fanboy, then tell me why their team of 50 people was able to deliver such a polished product on the first day of their OB. I'm not talking about whether or not you like the game, I'm talking about the quality of it. Maybe MW offers unique challenges to development due to its style of gameplay. Sure MWO offers some things no other shooter does, but so does any other historical BT video game that worked right. No one is going to care why MWO doesn't work, because there is a standard to meet. Excuses don't matter. They just don't.

lol made an account to hide your identity.. or your jsut a troll and never was in CB.

Any other game would call "Capture the Flag" a feature. We call it MWO.
