Using 2x lrm15 Artemis C1F Boat.
Running on 75% Ammo, have 8 Tons loaded.
3xM-Lasers, 1xTag, DHS, XL-Engine, Endosteel, BaP, Sensor Range improvement, Fast Lock Module.

Do around 350 in bad games and up to 700 in good games in Damage.
You need to be a good M-Laser shoot because the ECM Growd will try to tackle you,
but with TAG you make them be tackled by your team. And they die fast.

You need some balls trust your Highend Cat to goe toe on toe with an Atlas D-DC but thanks to the ECM stupidy most of them got they die very fast between 400 and 300 Meters... they think they are invulnerable... the will be pounded into Submission and they learn not Assault over open Ground
only because they have ECM.
And yes i am Pudging only.

My damage dropped thanks to ECM around 300...
thats all and still be good enough to be at the top of my Team most of the time.

As Small hint for gaming: As soon as the Yellow Reticle starts to cicle, FIRE your Missles, they will be guided in as soon as it is Red, so you save about 2 Seconds Lockon time.

So the Musik goes at 300-400 meters:
Fire your TAG to light ehm up, Press R As soon as your Aiming went Yellow DUMBfire your missles ( not in the ground of course) your keep him tagged then he is red and about 0.5 sec later he got a full volley into his belly...

But doing such nice moves needs lot of training and Skill, when you can do it, no close quarter fight should frighten you. And nicest of all, thanks to the "ECM No Missle will hit me i simply rush into him for brawling" Mentality of most of the ECM drivers. It's like Duck hunting. You only need to keep that Tag on a seperate Button and on the Target... more difficult as using lasers as you need 3 seks but easy enough.

And thanks to Tag it is extremly easy to fire the 3 M-Lasers into opened Torso parts, killed several Mechs which opened right/left torso by Ammo explosion.

are they worth uising at all now that ECM is in play??

Short answer: Yes

It is all in the manner of how you use them. SRMs are unaffected. But gone are the days of LRM spam. The only adjustment that should be made is for Streaks to work like SRMs when inside an ECM 'bubble'.

But players will figure out ways around ECM, just like they figured out ways around AMS.

And this is where I think the community needs to stop trying to help this guy. Not sure how many pages of a trolling topic you need to join a clan but let's not give him his membership card.

No, it just means that you can't mindlessly spam LRMs any more. Or at least such opportunities are now rare.

That's completely up to you. My current build uses a combination of lasers and missiles (with TAG) and I've had good results with it. I'm think of doing a ballistics oriented build for my next mech build.

Too bad for you. The HBK-4SP is a versatile chassis that you could have adapted to the changing battlefield. *shrug*

As you may have noticed there is a distinct effort to nerf most long range combat in favor of close range brawling. This pretty much reduces long range tactics to a relatively minor role. The game, unfortunately in my opinion, is steadily pushing us to a short range FPS combat system, like Hawken or most other similar games. The strategic combat has been suborned to local tactical combat. Do I personally like this? No. Will it change in the future? Shrug...Do not know, this is still Beta even tho a lot of money has been invested by us so far. Most disturbing to me is the reduction of certain 'roles' in the game that were touted in original projections. As an LRM artillery specialist I have 'garaged' my LRM 'boat' as it is only of marginal use now despite anecdotal statements to contrary. I am running brawlers now and I have seen the 'tactics' of both PUG and Units reduced to armored 'thrusts' or armored 'turtles' in offense and defense. Games include some with 0 damage, 0 kills and base cap only results. Up to each of us to decide if this is the direction we want the game to take.

You can try missiles, probably should. Try LOS combat with them, preferably with shorter range. Long range support fire, with few exceptions, are of doubtful use at the moment. I believe that ECM has changed the combat radically. Not to the better for my POV as I prefer a mix of tactical and strategic play.

ECM takes all the fun and tatics out of the fight and that makes me sad to see a mechwarrior game reduced to visual range brawling and such. ;) :P
