So I hear that the PPC will do EMP (Electro Magnetic Pulse) as well as normal damage...someday. I hope rather than just shaking my display and making my mini map get all fuzzy it does things like Turn Off ECM for a few seconds on the target, disrupt modules (capture assist, zoom... exc) disrupt missile lock. If it does these things it would put the PPC and ER PPC back on my tool list and might make up for its weight and heat to damage issues. No one fears PPCs... and that is a problem.

i think with as much heat as it puts out, PPC needs something extra to make it viable over large lasers

some kind of missile lock break or whatever sounds appropriate to me

I don't think it would be OP. Could be fun to use PPC's to disable those silly AS7-D-DC's.

And if you hit a Jenner with two or more the Jenner shuts down for a whole minute. That would be awesome!

just let PPC apply the "low signal" effect from ECM for a few seconds. As a placeholder. PPC underpowerdness has gone on for too long

I find it funny that a machine with a fusion reactor at its core wouldnt be electronically shielded from EMP effects. Do the devs think technology just stagnates over the period of 1000 years in the area of electronic shielding? I mean hell we cant even see what is behind us yet and SUVs have had rear view backup cameras for 5 years+ now.

I believe a faraday cage will do it.

Anyway, I do think ppcs should have some sort of EMP effect. Especially if it countered ECM in some manner, that would simultaneous bring ppcs up and balance ECM a tad more.

How do you know what is possible in 3049? I mean hell they have jump ships capable of traveling vast distances in very short order. This is exactly what I mean, people using today's tech mentality and trying to apply it to a thousand years from now. Do you think if you told the crusaders in the middle ages that we would land on the moon, or that you could produce a flame in your hand (A lighter) and still live, do you think they would believe it or even comprehend it? Stop trying to imagine a future built around today's logic. Hell look at moore's law with regard to processors, and that is just simple things like transistors on a silicon chip.

disable ECM, degauss the Gauss... and the PPC may actually see some play.

Wrap your mech in chicken wire to make a Faraday cage. Would work fine.

It is. And it's done today for military equipment. Could of course be that that would be LosTech, like missiles with a range with a longer range than 1,000m.
