Probably because you didn't buy all the elites in every other mech.
If you did buy elites in every one of your 3 Hunchbacks, then yes it is a bug and you should report it.

You only need 3 mechs of a given chassis. You can then get basic, elite and master on all 3. If you only want master on 1 of them then you can sell the other 2 once you finish getting elite on 3 of them, if you only want elite skills for 1 variant (and are OK without master skll) then you can you can sell your 2 unwanted variants as soon as you finish getting basic done.
FYI, if you unlock all the Elite skills for 3 variants, the BASIC skill effects get doubled. Same for MASTER, get all 3 and ELITE gets doubled. So keeping them until you gey MASTER is worth it.
- Unlocking all elite tier tfficiencies doubles the effectiveness of the basic tier efficiencies
- Unlocking the Master tier efficiency doubles the effectiveness of the elite tier efficiency
- You must unlock all the basic tier efficiencies of three different models of the same 'Mech before you can unlock the elite tier efficiency of one of those models

This is no longer current. Elite does not double and never will.

Well Team Leader, what the others are saying about the 3 variants only needed for all the way to Master is true. That system you talked about has been removed for the longest time I think. Hope you dont have too many mechs right now :/
Oh ya and Elites doesnt double. You can check it out using the speed boost as a gauge. Otherwise my Centurions would be speedy by now haha

3 to get elite, then 3 OTHER variants on mechs that you might not even like to get MASTER for the one you do, for some reason. Do you even play?
So, 6 mechs total, for the 1 mech that you like.
ederp: Ok, Im wrong about the grind. Apparently Im playing by a different set of rules. Apologies Redshift

I was going to suggest you change out the Lithium Hydroxide canisters you have there in Atlantis...CO2 levels are dangerously high. But then you fixored!
