You could buy another mechbay every month, and convert 5000xp.

Or skip the mechslot, and either bank 500 a month for a hero in about 12 months or convert 12500xp.

Or buy one vanity item, or a paintjob.

The target market of F2P games is mid-age (20-40) gamers with disposible income and only middling free time - had a convo with Tom Cadwell on this one a while back.

So ... worth it? It comes down to how much your time is worth. Good quote about life pre/post college for me ... "pre college - all the time, none of the money. post college - all the money, none of the time". Spending $15 for the option to unlock mechs faster, generate cbills faster, convert exp etc... worth it? For me - certainly. It's disposable income, and its basically the cost of 2 drinks at a bar.

Edit: I should clarify that I prefer buying various amounts of MC to a subscription model. The subscription model is not a terribly appealing model and most F2P games that aren't old MMO's (DDO, COH, etc) don't use it.

Worth implies value. Value is personally placed, and subjective. So if the value I place on a dollar is less that what that dollar will bring via MCs then the answer is yes. Otherwise no.

Id do it. I have no problem paying a few bucks every month for a game I enjoy. The only thing I can see is that it requires them to put in a system for monthly CC transactions which will cost them time and money.

Nobody says you have to sub in. You can still do it the way you want.

Sounds like Planetside2's business model. You pay 15 a month and get 500 station cash./ Not a bad idea, but I wont be paying anything more till the game is closer to release quality.

I might do it eventually, but not now. The game needs more content/bug fixes/optimization.
Oh, and Community Warfare.

I would consider it BUT for my money i expect:

-Constant patches...that actually fix things

-FREE content additions

-Stable game

and they'd need to do more in terms of MC.

Sounds like what everyone is copying from Turbine with Lord of the Rings:Online and Dungeons and Dragons: Online. :) It's a functioning F2P model where the Premium gives you slight bonuses to advancement as well as "Turbine Points" "Station Cash" or whatever the "premium currency" is. It has the end result of people "subscribing" to the game and spending some of that MC on cosmetic items since it rolls in every month. People tend to not horde it as much if they know they have 500 more coming in a little bit.

if 500mc and 30 days of premo was worth $15 yes it would be a good idea. But don't make it like a sub, instead make those two items that cheap so they come out to $15. So make a $15 MC line that if you spent it on sub you would still have XXX amount of MC still left, ect ect.

500mc left over seems a bit....low for that much money. Maybe 1,000mc be a better line, that way you still feel like you have a lot. That and the prices for things need to really come down big time. A lot of those items are overpriced, if IGP (the people that are in charge of that area) braught the prices down significantly, people would buy more of them. Thus in the long run, more money, paint colors need to be 100mc TOPS, not 250, if it says at 250 you better KEEP the color and not have to repay for it every time. Cockpit items should be 250 TOPS for the expensive ones, maybe 500 for the cool ones that do more things then just bobble. Overall the prices need to come down so people can buy more of it, if things are cheap, everyone will be more willing to buy them.

I bought the 30,000MC for $99.95 deal that was available recently and bought 360 days of premium with it leaving 6000MC.

So I'm getting 500MC a month and 30 days premium for $8.32/month for 12 months.

Bargain!

Probably. It's one less pizza a month and I'm a believer in subscriptions anyway. Throw in the fact that this is the first F2P game of high enough quality for me to consider throwing money at it anyway....

They need to copy what LOTRO does and give a monthly allowance of MC.

I wouldn't see this happen until the founders packs time out and people starting paying for their premium.

The OP isn't talking about subscriptions. He's talking about buying 3000MC every month for $14.95 and spending 2500 of it on 30 days premium.

This isn't a suggestion, it's reality.

It's not a monthly subscription. You can play it for free. I could subscribe to "premium" and get a bonus for subscribing, something like more C-bills after each match... Hmmmmm... :)

Why play Planetside 2? It is fairly terrible. I spent a week playing trying desperately to like it then realized it was space CoD and that was that.

This is how it is right now. $14.95 give 3000 MC, 2500 MC gets you 30 days premium time with 500 MC left over.

For me it is a good deal and I plan on keeping my premium time running for quite a while.
