Something I'd love to see implemented sometime in the future would be to add the Chain Fire key in the Configurable Controls Table. As it is now, the key is mapped to the Backspace key and is on the opposite side of the keyboard if you use the defaulted operational layout. I feel that even joystick users would love to have this key configurable in their set ups as well. As it stands right now, no matter which set-up you use, one has to take their eyes off of the action to locate the key. In the instance one needs to use the chain fire, being that it's usually due to the fact that you are in the heat of the battle and are running hot, this is not the time to be looking away, or worse, having your mech stop because you have to take your hands off of other controls to reach it.

I think somebody needs to let you in on a secret... Chain fire is a mode you place an entire weapon group onto. Example: my CAT-A1 has 6xSRM4 launchers all in group 1. Group 1 is set to chain fire. I have mouse button 1 mapped to group 1. Now I hope down mouse button 1 and an SRM4 salvo fires every second until I let up. Only had to touch backspace once because the setting is remembered between matches.

Also I set up group 1 and my "fire everything" then duplicate this group in group 6 so I can either switch between my primary fire buttion with 1 key press or map the chain fired group somewhere else easy to get to..... no switching required.

I use 1 for chain and 3 for all. 2 is for my secondary weapons... yeah, I only use one or two weapons types. What?!

I've remapped the left shift to wep group 3 so it works really well. Usually my lrm or long range wep such a ppc

I want to remap it, too.
My backspace key is broken.
I know i can just buy a new keyboard (this one was expensive tho) or create a macro manually with a 3rd party software but why would i have to go through the effort when it should be remappable ingame.
Its probably just an oversight by the devs and i hope they see this thread and fix it in an upcoming patch.

I actually remapped all the controls to the number pad. That gives me many keys commands to use with my little finger, which is not controlling any of my primary, ie movement, keyboard commands, puts the backspace within reach and allows me to use enter with my thumb as an extra weapon group that is both out of the way and easy to reach.

If I had a mechanical keyboard, I sooo would have the same type of set up. Had done that with MWIII. Unfortunately, it's not an option using a laptop. My up/down arrow keys are only half-keys. Number keys aren't viable, as then, you are not centered in front of the attached monitor. All I can hope for is to be able to afford a desktop before the Meta Game comes out. It's been a challenge on this laptop with miminal FPS and heat issues. But I'm sure I'm not the only one on a laptop, and having this configurable would be helpful. As mentioned above, yes, it can be set up as a group, but again, without a gaming mouse with mutiple buttons, two buttons leaves you pretty limited with options such as this. (yes I can still add this to the number keys that aren't on the number pad.) Also, I feel that those that use joysticks would make use of this as well.

Is the no way for you to plug a regular keyboard into your laptop? Not much good when you are not home, but for use at home it seems like a possibility.

$14 and your keyboard problems are solved. I choose MSFT keyboards because they don't have cross wiring issues like all other cheap keyboards.
