maybe Im looking at it wrong but the cw component IS the game for me. I could be "doin it wrong" though I guess

Exactly, the game would have a purpose. Merc units would start to get into it with the houses and each other over territory and it would breed more unit vs unit and house vs house rivalry's that would lead to more competative gameplay(which is what this game needs to survive long term, competative gameplay).

Would also lead to alot more team based gameplay as the houses and units learn to work together as they are dropping together all the time to fight CW battles. Even the PUG houses(if thats what houses turn out to be just random drop pugs that pick a house affiliation) will learn to work together as there is only a few thalsand at most people who play this game so with a few hundred people per house you will get to know your housmates and get to form a chemistry with them as you fight territory battles in CW together alot.

Instead of the random drop no purpose whatsoever BS we have now.

Im also assuming CW will bring at least 2-3 times the maps we have now as fighting over planets on the same maps over and over again would just be a joke and a huge immersion breaker, and that alone would breath more life into the game with 2-3 times the maps.

Yeah but you look at it that way and might as well find a new game cause theres no pleasing you
yes? Or am I reading this wrong?

I'm questioning how Rifter thinks that it would no longer be ECM Warrior Online when CW comes out? Wouldn't the best mech configs still be used, just as they are now? Like I said it will add some depth to the game, I'm not trying to argue that. But it's not going to completely change how people play, just what they are playing for.

It would for me... I didnt sign up and pay $120 for the game as it currently is. Did you?
oh minus the paying part that is

because an overarching ability to be part of a house, with a story, and everything that goes with that, the ability to take worlds etc will not at all change the game play... right?

Im hopeing(perhaps in vain) that by the time CW gets into the game they have ECM ironed out into a not super OP state.

Sorry, but the telling part about this was when they redesigned the website for Open Beta and removed all mention of it.

New players coming to the site see exactly one thing: This is a 16 player FPS. That's how they're promoting it and selling it.

If we ever see it, it's going to be a long time from now.

At this point I give it a 30% chance it ever gets into the game at all. The complete dev silence implies to me that it was a cool idea they started working on before realizing that it was way more than they could handle.

It IS starting to look like theyre realizing what they can do isnt on par with what they bit off on this front
Which is frankly terrifying to someone who basically came here FOR THAT not what we have now

Its not a option to not add it at this point it had too much press already about it including a PC gamer article.

Possibly, but I'm pretty sure there will be some other fotm build/tech that will take it's place that is just as overpowered. It's the nature of this type of multiplayer game. ECM just kind of took it much too far.
