Neither am I... PC Gamer is biased and subjective as heck ( Any review site that gives Duke Nukem Forever 80/100 I get immediately suspicious about. )

I'm not saying that if it weren't it would change anything,

Biased? Ok. But... with the cover and the skin and bobble head tie ins, if PC Gamer was going to be biased about MWO, wouldn't it be biased in MWO's favor?

Come on, let's face it. With so much of it still missing, MWO is barely a game, much less a Game-of-the-Year.

It's like the Enterprise -B in Generations... still waiting for everything but the engine and the hull to be installed on Tuesday.

Or, in our case, many Tuesdays.

Next year, I honestly and truly hope it deserves to win and wins. Right now, unfortunately, I believe it is justly not on the list.

Now that I think about it. Most of the **** posted here defies so much logic that its a wonder that I ever did take it seriously.

Boredom. As simple as that.
Well, thats the only excuse I could think of anyway...

you know what guys. this isn't going to help them. give them feedback. if i've learned anything is that they listen to feedback. it sucks that we have to guide them through everything. but at least it works. maybe eventually we won't need to spoon feed them everything

I like (for the most part) what they have done so far in MWO. disagreed with the OB timeframe but thats history now. the line "minimally viable product" stung when realised that was literally what OB was going to be buuuut meh.

They have a roadmap they're working down, theres a constant stream of stuff coming out and they are pretty transparent about when/what is getting released so im satisified with that even if its 6/12months behind the content i was looking forward to.

I kinda liked mechassault for its own reasons. I certainly had my fun with Lone wolf.

Historically, PC Gamer doesn't like MechWarrior enough for it to get awards. I don't know why, but it seems to go over their heads, maybe because it isn't a traditional 3rdPS/FPS set-up. Maybe because MechWarrior follows a tradition that is unlike other games. So they raved about MW2 as groundbreaking, but then following MW games are "same as MW2". It's just a blindspot, find a different reviewer source. (IMHO)

Who knows, maybe they will see the light in 2013, anything is possible.

I find the forums to be a great source of constructive criticism and positive feedback.

To be serious, most discussions tend to get rebutted with Learn2Play, Learn2Teamwork, Learn2Adapt, sometimes it's appropriate, sometimes not.

The day ECM came out, I remember the forums being flooded with "I Love ECM" and "This was the best patch ever". It was a refreshing change of pace. Unfortunately it didn't last long since now most ECM threads are about nerfing them or how they've made some weapons non-viable, etc, etc...

I just found the thread for the first time.

And I have food heating, once that's done I'll be off watching Hogan's Heroes.

I dont know of any other game that plays like any of the previous mechwarrior games or the current MWO, there really is no other game to compare it to
When comparing to games of similar (first person shooter) games, it will not win many awards as it doesnt fit perfectly into that mold
MW and MWO gameplay is different than most FPS games and is fairly unique

All right gents, back to the drawing board:
-- Make rate of fire the exact same across the board.
-- Jack up the internal crit chance of weapons (none of this "weapon HP" BS, one hit by anything and it's gone)
-- Add armor by-pass for crits
-- Remove built-in C3
-- etc...

-- Fix heat sinks & add heat effects to targeting and maneuverability
-- Restrict mechs' forward speed when they're turning to their reverse speed, and their reverse speed when turning to half of that (a 5/8 mech moves at 5 in a turn moving forward and 3 in a turn moving in reverse)
-- Different LRM trajectories for LOS fire vs. Indirect fire. LOS has a much flatter trajectory and get's there in half the time IF does
-- Minimum ranges for Gauss and AC - not just the PPC

If you cast aside the fanboy views here that this is the best game ever and a possible cure for cancer, reality is MWO has failed to impress, failed to deliver.

Respectable flag titles like PC GAMER already did MWO a kindness to review it (becoz of the "Because it's Mechwarrior factor).

But take away the legendary title, this game doesn't have a leg to stand on in any category, even compared to the other beta's nominated. Actually.. One leg.. Because it's mechwarrior.... But thats fading thin and fast lately.. Noticed the forums are kinda dead now.. Not long before the fat lady sings on this one I'm afraid.

PGI promised to release their numbers in new years, truth comes out then, not long now.. But my money is for their self preservation they are gonna hide that too with another flimsy excuse and spin.. As usual.

As a 60$ founders member, I got my money out of the enjoyment, but I also gained many hours of frustration, loss of hope, etc etc etc. Overall PC Gamer is pretty close to unbiased reviewer as it can get.

MWO doesn't stack up to the legacy (at the moment) and there are "better games" out to play.

Hell I played Hawken and it doesn't match my game style, but it doesn't suck. It is actually a good game of a different genre that deserves a nomination for an award.

MWO in my opinion does not stack up to anything. Get it together of go bankrupt. DO OR DIE PGI!

I like the idea for LRM trajectory and for the effects to your mech while overheating but I do not agree with your movement requests nor your minimum range for cannons, cannons dont have a minimum range, if you stand in front of a cannon and its fired youre going to get hit... 1 cm away or 90m away, you would still get hit, its a large piece of metal flying at you at a high velocity

Still checking back once every couple weeks coz it's branded MW and would like to see where this all ends up.

When I go visite a city, I don't have tendencies to judge it based off its sewers. I don't even know why I would bother going to the sewers in the first place...

Theirs nothing there of value, it smells like **** and its also full of ****.

As someone who has read PC Gamer for over 15 years and still has a subscription, I kinda chuckle when people say they're "biased" or whatever when they publish something they don't like. I have seem them tear down "AAA" titles from the very publishers that advertise in their magazine (often advertising the game itself in the same issue).

Overall they tend to offer some of the best coverage of the industry, certainly better than any of the online gaming sites I've seen.

you need to consider the truth vs advertising formula. They have to appear to maintain impartiality and legitimacy... a bad review of a game that isn't F2P means nothing; why do you think they reserve the real damnation for console? Ask the editors for an unqualified rejection of any 'cash for comment'... and good luck.
