Probably a ploy to get you to activate your premium time, and entice people who aren't founders to buy it.

I like the advertisement the Penny Arcade guys did for this too.

I was a Mech Romney before I even pressed my Premium Time button.

In hindsight, I would have made my trial mech grind that much easier back when closed beta started.

Oh well, the 20 days I have left is a bit irrelevant since I have as many C-Bills as the monopoly guy, and more experience points than a WoW nerd

What would be helpful is if they posted what premium time you had. Then if you followed their commands and added time it would show. This no show of what your premium time is - is bull****. So I'm old and don't remember what it was originally but other games shows your time whether you activated it or not. It is no wonder people are asking for their money back as the Devs are only concerned about the all mighty Dollar and not game play or the people they are Scr*****.

Exactly this, I was disappointed too, but it's cool, the game is still fun.

If your worried about c-bills you should save the free premium time for the economy buff / change.

Seems like a pretty blatant trick to get us founders to activate our banked time now now now.

Maybe I'm just too cynical, I don't know.

i'm not even tempted, maybe if it were a week instead of just one day.

I assume it will give you 1 day of premium time which will start immediately, just like what would happen if you bought 1 day of premium time right now.

I activated the code yesterday and it did not give me a premium bonus in matches. I have not activated my founders bonus so it should be tacked on to its total making it 91 days.

Anyone know how this works with existing Founder's premium that has not been activated yet?

does it add to that pool of premium, or does it start immediately?

the way it reads it starts right away. it's not founder time (that's the only time we activate)

Mmm not sure they should be advertising on a site like penny-arcade yet I mean they even got a below the fold news post with semi-positive coverage out of this, so it will probably generate some new players... But the new player experience without friends is pretty terrible right now. Hell even with friends you're in for a rough time, had a game with 3 newbies in 9Ms yesterday. I started the game and asked if anyone wanted to lead and they said you do it so I got them lined up below the ridge, explained that the 9M with XL can't brawl and needed to stand off and snipe and waited and was amazed that no one rambo'ed off, 8 players waiting below the ridge, should be a good fight this even if I am in a 4g hunch grinding xp.

Then 2 atlas burst out of the tunnel under ECM at the same time as everything else came over the ridge with ECM and of course with us having 3 assaults doing less DPS than a jenner vs 3 atlas we got annihilated. Maybe it was an 8man sync drop, maybe it was just people being organized via text either way that game went terrible for those newbs and I imaigne it was on the better end of things (everyone was organized, everyone was friendly).

Actually running with newbie friends is probably worse since it means your team will have 2-4 trial mechs in...

It won't be as bad as long as all of you pick medium mechs.

Yup and I tell all my friends to run the medum just because a medum has the least impact on the game and the trial has the lowest disparity with real mech.

But thats not what I'm talking about here. If you're a random Penny Arade reader and you see Tychos post today you'll go 'oh ho! That looks interesting, maybe I'll get the guys to download and give it a try tonight'. You set it to download, pop e-mails to the guys to do same.

That night they log into the game and through combined random clicking manage to work out the friend / group interface, they pick a veriety of mechs (Although at least 2 Awesomes because hey it's big and called AWESOME) ready up and... they're going to lose every game, they're going to end up with damage numbers below 100 and they're probably going to get someone bitching that the team has 2 trial awesomes on, if they're lucky it won't be too rude.

Hmm, I'll make an intro to gaming the game video that explains trial mechs tonight.

They still have the stuff up, but it no longer has a "click here for a day of Premium" button anywhere to be found.
