Step 1: Do you see plumes of white smoke in the distance?
Step 2: Can you communicate with your team mates to get help to go to the white smoke in the distance?
Step 3: Can you move using cover to prevent locks?
Step 4: Can you aim at the CAT's ears or the left arm of the Catapracts and hit them at 500M out when you expose yourself to close?
Step 5: Can you you close to 150M and fight at that range and easily kill the LRM boat?

I never understood how people could not do this, even at the height of LRM uberness, I would run my Jenner as fast at possible and just destroy the LRM boat and they could do little to me. Now with ECM, I just run my Raven 3L and sexually violate the LRM boat in so many ways I should be prosecuted.

Try this against a 4man or 2x 4mans or an 8man. Against uncoordinated pugs I am sure you are a dominant force.

I play LRM Boats and I play Lights. I know how a LRM Boat plays and Lights and I can generally counter them. If you ignore a LRM boat who is a tagger, they are going reign destruction on your party unless you have an Atlas DC to provide protection. And again, any LRM boat w/o TAG is an *****, which forces the LRM boat to go to 450M or closer range, which puts them very close to ECM disruption + support from group. Even then, your LRM boat tends to go to the back of the group to get some help from a front charge. Again if you are playing it smart, you run around the backside and get the LRM boat from the rear.

The only time a LRM boat gets a free pass is when people ignore them, which happens surprisingly high before ECM because people didn't think about their approach to the LRM boat in the first place.

Step 1: Run around in circles in full view of the entire enemy team trying to fire your medium lasers at a target 600m away
Step 2: Ignore the enormous cloud of fire rolling across the sky while you eat 400 missiles over the course of 20 seconds
Step 3: Jump on forums to ragepost about how a bunch of "No skill loosers(sic)" are "Ruining the game".
Step 4: Devs give you magic passive invulnerability cloak so you can run around and beamspam without getting shot
Step 5: Vigorously troll forums launching invectives at anyone who would propose to nerf your new passive I-Win button

Step 2: ???
Step 3: Profit!

Yes, please re-instate the original easy button back to its original OP'ness. Good plan.

Because someone with smart team mates has another LRM boat 200m away from the other one.

The problem is never the LRM boat. The problem is what the LRM boat's 7 buddies are doing while you charge after him. So yes, in some scenarios the "correct" thing to do is push against the LRM guy in the back. However, there are many scenarios where pushing against the LRM guy in the back will just get you killed.

4-5 Steps too many currently. Will change again sometime, LRM effectiveness has been on a yo-yo it seems for the months I have been playing.

Rhent can defeat any LRM boater in any situation by following those simple steps. Doh, jman5, l2p bro. /sarcasm

Whenever I LRM boat, I make sure I am close to my VOIP buddies (but far enough away where I am ignored) and I never do it when lone wolf pugging. It's also beneficial to bring a TAG. If I am being harassed by someone like Rhent I ask one of my buds to kill him. If that's not possible I rotate torso and continue firing until I die. LRM/SSRM boats are still a force to be reckoned with if your team has more or equal ECM as the enemy and don't run off by themselves.

Also, now that these missile boats are "uncommon," people let their guard down and don't expcect it as much anymore. Perfect opportunity to do some major damage. Lone wolf pugging with missile boats will continue to be hit or miss though.

THAT so much THAT

and what was wrong with, spot smoke run around the side, laugh at lrm boat holding locks for a centurary and blowing up the side of his mech cause he never saw me coming, flanking was fun for puggers it's gone.
