So I once went to this vocation school where they handed out these gratitude coins, you could trade them or cash them in for a prize, but first someone would have to get one from a staff member.
We could do the same here. Give staff or mods a ration of "gratitude coins" to hand out each month and let the users trade them with friends or get mc, custom paint, drawings for rare cockpit swag, you name it. I think it could go a long way.

Is that a joke?
You can have them randomly handed out. First 20 people to vote on a dev poll? They can either be common or rare, but not too rare. I think modsand staff can find people they want to thank on MWO forums.

Like the Mission/Kills insignia/Decal Pilots paint(ed) on their Fighter/Bomber planes of old and today.
Then these would become a +2 item.
Something like these (but Coin shaped)

These weren't exactly them but you get the idea. Staff would hand them out, students could trade them in for a prize, or gift them to another student. It was pretty cool and it felt awesome to get one especially from another student. It was probably the most fun to give one to another student, and sometimes, its just nice to get the prize.

It feels like there's a roof missing on a house, and you are talking about painting the wall to "cream white" instead of "plain white".

I seriously hope they do not even consider any meaningless crap like this, before fixing the core issues, like:
1) Launcher / mechlab
2) Social menu rework
3) Netcode
4) Macros
5) Yellow filter on startup, map/quick map bugs, FPS bug, black screen bug, crashes to desktop
6) <insert everything I forgot>
7) <enter extra content, mechs, weapons, balance>
8) <dynamic battlefield>
9) <insert everything I did not even think of>
.
.
.
.
121) <cockroaches and other insects & animals on maps, that cause some graphical decals on cockpit>
.
.
.
288) <when shooting lasers to water, it actually vaporizes some of it, causing clouds and fog!>
.
.
.
.
.
.
n) <your medals>
...with all due respect.

this!
plus some of the mods here (not calling any names!) are... well... not that smart and friendly - they will probably just give it to people they know.

No one needs to catch every good act, in fact its that you probably wont be rewarded that makes it meaningful when someone does.
