Notice how the Arms or guns on these two concept art are at or very nearly level with the top of the torso. No ears.

BAM.

Ears. The arms have been moved up so that they extend out the top of the torso, and are also enlarged from the concept art.

Not sure if the torso is being shrunk or that the arms are being enlarged relative to the concept art...

Slightly. But remember, you're;

a.) Comparing concept art (drawing) to a final 3D model.

b.) Comparing a drawing and a 3D model that are being viewed from slightly different angles. The concept art has a viewpoint biased above the models and the 3D snapshots are being looked at from a more neutral or "looking up" angle. Of course the "ears" are going to look bigger.

Notice how in the first pics they are looking DOWNward vs. the second pics are looking UP towards the mechs.

its a ratio thing. I could go and measure out how many pixels the area extending is compared to the entire trunk.. but that would take too much work.

trust me the arms are bigger. i pilot a catapult and look down on ravens all the time

Also note that the top two pictures are kind of looking at the mech at a downward angle where as the two bottom pictures are looking at an upward angle

The arms/ears are made larger/taller for gameplay and animation reasons.

In the Raven's case, the arm was just made larger.

In the Stalker's case, the arm was raised so that the flap doesn't clip into the leg when the pilot looks down.

The clipping couldnt be a problem if they just moved it forwards instead of upwards

I feel like the developers have a certain taste and have modified a little from the concept art, both these mechs have longer legs and bigger arms (or smaller torso relatively) from the concept art

i think in the stalkers case they elevated it a bit so that the arms lower flaps and missiles wouldnt hit the leg when u aim/fire downward. i think they shouldve just limit arm movement / frozen the arms in place, slightly reduced their size and let the torsos upper and downward movement more wider in range to compensate.

When I do a concept for a client and they decide they want a 3D model, it looks exactly the same as the 2D concept.

This is just speculation of course, but it could be that different variants have different proportions.
