Just to see "PPC" in the patch notes will be a welcome sight.

I love the PPC, always have since my first TT game back in the 80's. The buffs on them will be much welcomed. But I am apprehensive about the EMP effects being implemented. Don't get me wrong, I think it's fitting and a bad a$$ notion, but I imagine it will make the PPC overpowered. Remember how streaks kept mechs rocking? Imagine the EMP effect from 3 ppc's on chain fire from an Awesome. I've no idea the severity or duration the EMP effect will have, but even if one hit disrupts HUD for one second, a mech being almost constantly struck by ppc's will be rendered useless, and that's not even taking damage into consideration. Just my $.02.

I think all we're getting is the velocity buff. (which it DOES direly need mind you) But not the much needed heat buff, and minimum range being removed. B)

I think they were talking about ppc only messing with the hud if you got hit with 2 at the same time.

The velocity buff is on Tuesday, the other changes are still in the works.

No need to remove the minimum range on the PPC, it has always had it. But they do need to add the minimum range for the gauss rifle.

And yet there is no min range on the ERPPC.. which is clearly meant to be the snipers weapon given it's ludicrously superior range.

It needs to go. Weapons in mechwarrior shouldn't have minimum ranges this isn't a TT. Balance doesn't translate between the two in that kind of fashion. If they are really concerned about a 10 damage high heat weapon being some CQC Monster then they should add friendly splash damage to it. (why they would be concerned about this I don't know considering what the AC20 is in theory capable of. To say nothing of the very strong Component Destructive capabilities of an AC10, or AC20 have compared to a PPC)

Do you know what other weapons had minimum range?. AC2, AC5, Gauss Rifle, LRM. All removed except the LRM.

only equivilent i can think of is the clan heavy laser, and if you don't like the heat off ppcs then forget it.

i agree the min range for an er ppc should come down to that of a ppc or down to a large laser.

yes the gauss really needs it's brawl capability toned down and the explosion ratio toned a bit down with it.

Just make mechs hit by PPC get the same effect of being under enemy ECM (lost targeting, radar, etc) for 2 seconds. Effects should not accumulate. If you got hit by a PPC then another a second later, you would get back your system 3 seconds after the first hit.

Looking forward to PPC buffs! Thoughts:
-Keep the minimum range for standard PPCs. The heat tradeoff in this game seems to be more applicable to minimum range, and there are very few circumstances where the range difference between ERPPC and PPC would have made a significant difference. +50% heat for a weapon that works in CQB as well as a KM downrange seems reasonable.
-Convergence and delay are the main crippling factors, and why I use LLAS instead of ERPPC
-Worry about the basics (damage, heat, etc) before implementing anything "fancy" like HUD disruption. We already have enough of that from ballistics.

Mostly I just want to actually feel a bit of a thrill of fear if I target an enemy mech and see:

PPC
PPC
PPC

in the weapon loadout, instead of the slightly derisive snort that provokes at the moment. They're probably the franchise's most iconic weapon, but at the moment they're just not as fearsome as they ought to be. I want that sight to provoke the same wariness as seeing "AC20 AC20" or "GAUSS RIFLE GAUSS RIFLE" does.
