So I remember being excited when C3 voice came into the game, but, it's really been a complete and utter damp squib. I've never actually used it, nor do I really know how to despite having it installed. I gather that it's supposed to work with premade groups, but frankly, I have never found a premade group anywhere but with a 3rd party voice chat lobby. So has anyone got reports on how C3's been working for them, or do we need to petition for some other integrated VON solution?

Nope, my group use TS... alot of people are using TS or Vent or whatever because it's what they were already using for other games, so rather than learn a new system and have to install additional software, they stick with what they know

from what I understand C3 does have some nice features in terms of being able to create a room with people you are already grouped with in game? I don't know for certain because no one else I play with wants to even try it, and as you mention, you need to find people on TS or such first to actually group with, rather than create a group and then join voice

Yeah, shame on me here too. I have it installed but also no clue how it is supposed to work... I have the option ticked in the menue, I am logged in and its running in the background but when I join a match... nothing changes in the C3-Programme either... I have no idea what I am actually supposed to do with it.

I used it early on when they introduced in closed beta. When you form/join a group, it creates a c3 channel for you and offers to have you join it. if you join, and all members of your group join, you can communicate through voice like any of the other voice clietns (teamspeak, mumble, etc). Right now, though, you have to form/join a group for it to automatically activate. I suspect if/when they introduce a game lobby, that may change?
For now, like many others, I prefer TS when playng in a group.

Looking at the C3 website, the forums don't exist. Looking at the software itself, there have been no updates for months, and their twitter feed is similarly quiet. Worrying. :/

I really, REALLY, want to be able to do voice stuff in PUGs. The Arma system was great. You have different channels to flick through, including one for speaking to your local area around you. All in game, part of the system. Was very nice while playing DayZ.

I have it installed but I'm not currently using it since it doesn't work for PUGs.

No I don't. The people I talk to all use TS3.

I noticed that too initially. Which is why I was wondering in the first place why they'd use C3 (which I had never heard about before) instead of TS 3 (which can be used for the purpose of ingame voicechat, see the ACRE Mod for Arma 2), which is the de facto standart for voicechat (at least in europe) anyways.

The only guess I have is that someone high up at PGI or IGP has some relation to the C3 guys.

No, it's inferior in every way to things like Vent, Mumble, or TS3 and there's no point in bothering with it unless and until it is fully integrated into MWO.

Never used C3. My clan uses mumble, so I use it with them. But this game badly needs in-game voice chat.

No, and I have no desire to ever try it tbh.
TS has been optimised to within a flea's nadger-hair.

My guess would be that the licensing for C3 was way cheaper than TS, or that it otherwise was easier in some way, not just a "hey, let's not bother using that obscure TS3 app lads" kind of thing..

Once it is integrated into the game properly it will be good imo. At least for people playing pub matches.

Just take a look at planetside 2.

I only started playing it the other day but I instantly noticed how EASY it is to join a squad or outfit and start working together.

Either use the very easy to use Squad tool to find a certain one you like, or just press 1 button while your running around and BAM your in a squad.

If MWO's C3 Voip was

1. Integrated into the game. (no c3 download needed, well maybe however it would be done on initial game install & no need to run it outside of the game, the game runs it and C3 settings are now in the settings menu........)

2. Automatically put everyone on the same team into a C3 voip channel upon joining a match.

3. Remove everyone from the group after the match ends and repeat.

3b. Have a popup asking if you would like to remain with the current group. (anyone who presses yes joins the group and you can go from there gathering more for 8v8.) Also once ELO matching etc is in you may be able to just straight launch and it will add the rest of your new team to your existing groups voip channel.

Simplicity and ease of use are really key here imo. The more that is done automaticaly, the better.

Installed but using TS.

Would be more usefull if it dropped all people on the team in the same channel. Could benefit PUG coordination and "pre-made + lone-wolfs" team coordination.

Lance chat needs to be put back in though, and functional. 8-12 people in the same channel can get messy.

My friends and I have been using C3 for awhile now. It is really easy to set up, has a lot of features, and generally could be a strong player in the group voice arena. BUT, it's in beta and seems to be stuck there. There are issues that need resolved. For example I found this thread looking for advice on a problem with my mic being "always on". At some point their forums vanished with no explanation. There is no support to be found and I have not received any message back from e-mail. I hope they figure it out because it has a lot of potential, but it feels like a dying beast right now.

Try running C3 on admin and settting up a push to talk button in settings.

We,Gensokyo, use C3 it's fun and cool with the avatar, friend list and other channels for gaming + instant group thing, but the push to talk button fails a lot even if you run it on admin (to fix you'd have to restart C3). Really, It's just buggy atm could be a lot better, but like everyone said it's really quiet on their website...

Tried it. It doesn't work properly.
I've tried all the other popular ones, as well, and only vent stuck.

c3 should be integrated into the game itself, so even if people aren't talking, they can at least hear you.
