PGI needs to start players off with a basic mech of a chosen weight class and give us a target testing range already because I just started in the hawken beta and its new user flow is so much more friendly and less obviously moneygrubbing that it hurts. I love MW IP but I am probably gonna be scarce for a few weeks. Hope they can salvage MWO because all these short term moneygrabs (lol lump of ******* coal?) are starting to leave a bad taste.

It's possible. Hawken has a lot more mainstream exposure. It's not 100% certain though.

I doubt that the mods want this forum filled with Hawken vs Mech game threads.

Lets keep it in http://mwomercs.com/...rrior-online-p/

I don't think it will maul the playerbase, other than the players who really love twitchy fps games.

MWO should have went into open beta with a tutorial mission and giving players a mech. I agree. But Hawken is a silly twitch game with mechs and play that looks totally absurd. Watching my friend play it makes my eyes bleed at how stupid it is.

Simulation Vs arcade.

I prefer simulation.

I wouldn't really call MWO a simulator at this point, just look at the base capture we have right now.

Hawken is nothing like MWO, hopefully we will lose some "twitch gamers" to Hawken, leaving this game to those who enjoy simulation of MWO.

Hawken is a more accurate simulation at this point simply because the weapons actually hit what you shoot with them. Kind of an important measure. Just seems they have done more with less startup cash and are more willing to start new players off right. saying PGI shoudl look to them and riot for influences more than they have WoT.

Hawken more accurate simulation? Its just COD in battlesuits.

I played Hawken closed beta. It doesn't feel much like a simulator, it's more like a fps mecha themed game, so it aims at a different audience (probably people who played armored core will like it).

The best would really be if this game lost ALL the 4+4 syncers to Hawken. It would really clean up the player base
with all that garbage lost.

But the choice is arcade vs slower arcade :D

Also, if you think Hawken is [FPS franchise] with robots/battlesuits/etc., you've made it clear you haven't played neither Hawken nor [FPS franchise].

I was an Alpha tester for Hawken. It is a good game, BUT like everyone says it is twitch rather than tactical. Give me a tactical game any day! I'll stick with MWO.

MWO has probably the most wretched new player experience of the year, from titles with any kind of media exposure. Maybe decade.

It's mauling its own playerbase by trying to squeeze new players for cash before they're even saddled in the pilot seat. All this advertisement money wasted, since when newbies come they recoil from the game proper.

I'm guessing with the current roadmap it might be ready for open beta around late February, if still alive by then :D . Here's hoping the IP will keep it afloat until critical issues like MM and NPE are sorted out, months late.
