The Atlas is a great 'mech!

One shot scouts with tripple SRM6. Beat up LRM boats and snipers from 1km away with dual AC2. Beat up opponents at close range with an AC20. Carry 4 LLs and pinpoint cockpits.

Seriously, the Atlas is one of the most versatile mechs there is. It just can't go very fast. If you can't work around that pilot sth else.

I got an Atlas as part of my founders' package and boy am I happy that I did. I may not be very effective beyond 270 metres, but inside that, most other 'mechs melt like butter in the sun. I can hit lights that try circling me if I counter-turn, I can slug it out with the best of them, and I can flank the enemy force if I'm on the flank of my own force.
The heat is manageble if you fire with consideration, but the sheer amount of dakka on an Atlas means that you can easily overheat if you use alpha strikes all the time.
At least that's my experience with the Atlas.

There is also the Atlas II, surprisingly you can fit all that onto a regular Atlas (swap Ferro for Endo-Steel). Better Mid-Long range damage, and still hits hard.

Atlas is one of the two good mechs right now. The D-DC and the Raven-3L.

Hey nice catch. Never thought I'd see a Stiener whining about the Atlas not being powerful enough. Kind of ironic in a way considering their fascination with the bloody things. Maybe the OP's actually from Rasalhague (sorry if I misspelled that)...

Atlas only f you want to stomp face's in, take a ton of shots. You will just be trading speed to do it. Atlases are great mechs.

what I mean is 2 scouts - 1 atlas D (not boring lrmboat) with 4 laser + 1 gaus
as assault mech i have to walk in 5 mechs and kill 2, :)and thx for that thing with the faction steiner is to blue:)
after that post my atlas D was reset an see it work:) - there was something wrong, but that ok it is beta
and i love this game, for beta many is ok, and if i mean something is wrong i post - but i love mwo:)

damn there are only 2 mechs in the game now that give me a pause before i approach them and they are catapult and atlas

catapult because of so many different (often cheezy ) builds it can run and because of sheer firepower it packs
every other mech is kind of predictable or has some bad flaws
so if you think atlas is just bad either you are not good with assaults or you suck

yea every mech has some weak spot and dont forget that the laughing scout may freeze when he sees hidden swayback or streakcat hiding behind the atlas

A decent atlas pilot will not be taken out by a scout in a 1 on 1, unless he has a torso weapons only loadout or something.

But..well the Atlas is good. Maybe your problem is that you always play alone. When yes...search a clan, when no..learn to play.
