How about this for a bulkier look? Also feel like the legs are a bit shorter on the concept art.

Its not pretty..but mechs are not supposed to look pretty mate.....

It is not about pretty, it is about physics, if you look at the Sarna art, the Stalker looks "Impossible" in terms of physics, that thing would not be able to stand. (I know this is all fictional). MWO made it look more balanced so to speak. High arms Low arms whatever, it still looks better.

Ah..well the way you worded your post I guess I didn't get that. Thanks for the clarification.

Modified version would have some serious clipping issues with torso pitch.

That would depend on how the animations are modelled. If the torso elevation were determined at the hips (green lines on updated image below) and torso twist at the waist (yellow line) there would be less clipping issues:

A smaller more compact mech is slightly harder to target and hit for most. Thus the one on the right is better for the driver and worse for its opponent. Aesthetics is in the eye of the beholder and there are a lot of different eyes out here. Take your pick.

No they don't.

The original TRO art was a travesty, and I still cry at night when I think about it.

...I almost wanna call these troll threads, they make no sense. Why do you want to delay us a mech for such trivial BS?

Because their grognard sensibilities throw them into frothy rages if something seems out of line with their expectation.

Better to get the perfect design down now and have a little delay than to have it this way forever. I doubt they would change anything once it releases since they will be busy with the next mech.

It's one thing to do a concept art sketch, another to make that concept art in-game reality. For all we know, the torso clipped really bad with the legs, or the missile doors did when they were opened, so they decided to raise the torso a bit, as well as the arms.

Until Alex comes in and tells us why the in-game model is slightly different from his concept art, we can just guess.

Oh, and if anyone has missed it, go read this incredible PA Report: The incredibly detailed, beautifully illustrated, insanely intricate birth of a video game Mech.

I think you guys are being far too nitpicky here. Cars in real life often have subtle differences in styling from Concept Car to Real World. (limitations of technology, cost wise. might be too expensive to give that car that extra flare in the fenders, tail lights might not be visible enough etc)

Honestly, I am not seeing what you guys are really complaining about. I can see the differences, but they are so minor. And I can see why they are there. The one we're actually getting will be able to travel it's torso guns up the Z axis more readily, and it's arms (if you can call em that) will be able to traverse X and Y, vs being Fixed.

"it doesn't look as cool!" Yeah....it looks about the same really. I've seen far more differences of Concept to Reality than this. The Concept art was to give us a general idea of what a given mech was going to look like. Not the exact model. That's what a Concept is. A style showcase and proof of general concept.

Given the other more Important issues of this game (fps drops, memory leaks, Mech Lab Freezing, Poor Net Code) if this is mechs changes are a deal breaker, why are you even still playing this game?
