It might. However, with more than two bases to capture/defend, chasing down the other team could be difficult. Less so on these maps, but when they introduce the big maps it should get really tough.

The one thing I like most about this mode is that we'll get to utilize more of the map area, especially caustic and river city.

Light mech teams are not unbeatable. Yes, light mechs can circle strafe a larger mech to death one on one- but it doesn't work the same when a team of light mechs tries to circle strafe against a whole team that knows how to stay calm, call targets, and focus fire. (In fact, the next time you find your self getting "solo'd" by a circle strafing light mech that you can't shoot...call for backup! A close circle strafe is hard for you to shoot, not so hard for somebody who has a different angle to shoot from.)

Honestly.. Conquest mode sounds pretty lame. I wanna blow stuff up and not stand around on some stupid squares. They should have created a mode where one team has to guard a destructible base and the opposing team to blow it up.

Oh yeah...this whole 'mining rig' thingy feels so fake.. I'm already disappointed with Conquest before I get to play it. This is pretty much just Assault with more base to capture.

I really didn't bother reading through that

1) Does it have respawns/dropship mode or something? I can't imagine a game getting completed before a team gets destroyed..

2) Does it have more rewards considering the game mode *could* be pretty long.

Wish we had some bigger maps.. I don't feel the current maps will work well for this. Even though it would seem that part of this idea is to make us use more of that map... I think the capture points will be too close to eachother, and hard to defend (unless there are some serious map modifications. There will be steamroll games, as one team spreads out , and the other bowling balls through the map. my 0.02

Wow what a half baked idea. Honestly its more efficient to blow up the other team then split the group and risk having em picked off one by one. I was expecting ya know.. actual conquest of planets and territory. LAME.

Looks exciting. I think we will start to see the value in bringing mediums and fast heavies. A team of mass lights wont be able to hold positions very well, and a team of mass assaults wont have the speed to keep up with the capturing.

Versatile mechs that can both react quickly and defend a base are going to be kings.

Edit: That said, we'll probably see an uptick in assault mech usage simply because the Stalker is being released that day as well.

1) No. It has the exact same win mechanics as current, it just complicates captureing. You have to take and hold bases so they contribute to score, when it hits 750 for a team they win. Otherwise you just, Kill the enemy team.

2) No. Capture win will give a MAXIMUM bonus of 18,750. So the capture win is negligable in terms of rewards. I cant help but feel they dropped a Zero off that given how much more work is entailed.

It's called conquest not community warfare. That other one is a much larger issue and obviously going to take longer to develop.

Personally I'm looking forward to this game mode basically forcing people to destroy the other team most of the time, I signed up for battlemechs blowing up other mechs and not races to the red square.

The more I think about it, the more I love it.

I also don't think it's going to be as long and drawn out or devoid of mechs blowing up as people think- both teams start with one cap point in opposite corners just like they do now... the other 3 "nuetral" are all midfield and really the points won't be that far away from each other, and teams walk right through these same areas of the same maps in assault mode constantly... So actually, this mode will play out very much the same as Assault does now, but with more incentive to go out into midfield and possibly bump into the bad guys, which will lead to firefights quickly.

I'm not sure, but it actually might lead to less matches being won by capture than is currently happening in assault....That's a shaky guess tho, the victory conditions make the price of getting blown up pretty steep- I also predict that this mode will be harder than assault...when your team starts to lose it will be much harder to stage some kind of rally and pull out a win.

There are some people in this world who are literally impossible to please. They are unable to recognize when they have something good until they lost it. Then they cry about the "good old days". A few of them make good points on occasion so you keep them around, but they are an insufferable bunch.

Actually I mixed up oneof the images from the announcement, it looked like there were more mechs than there actually were in the screenshot.

They want the match times to stay around and under 15 minutes like they do now, not last for hours on end.
