Im just out of a game where one raven with streaks and ECM did like 800 damage and received shots from at least 4 different mechs (my own one included). Isnt it somewhat annoying to see Lights get hit by Medium Lasers continously without any crucial damage been done? Or is there a trick behind it to hit a circling Raven with anything other than streaks?

Or is it me just overreacting out of frustration? :-).

typically I shoot them

the lag shield has achieved mythic proportions on the forums, while it does exist it is nowhere near as bad as ppl say.

Okay, its not AS bad as some poeple say. But when some light mech is circling you, you keep that mech in your firing arc 100% of the time and you continously hit it with lasers but the light has you cored before you even made some armor red .... thats not right ^^

I don't even build my mechs around killing lights, no streaks and few if any lasers and I haven't found them to be that big an issue. The vast majority of lights make basic piloting errors that give you easy shots if you do your part.

Generally the response is to lead them by an unspecified amount, to be discovered by experimentation.

Personally I wait till they're not moving across my field of vision (they're moving directly towards of away from me, or standing still) and alpha-strike the **** out of them.

The less they're moving across your field of vision the less lag-shield they have.

Lag shield does not exist, only bad shooting. Also streaks.

yep minimizing deflection is the way to go, most light pilots will take fairly predictable circuits of a target allowing you to position yourself to get that good shot (its possible even in an atlas)

Being from EU, the lagshield is pretty bad for me.

Generally, the best to do is to catch them when they go in a straight line, but if you're engaged with them, imagining them being around 1/2 a bit ahead and shooting at that place helps when using lasers.

It only rarely affects me all that badly.

At least for lasers, ballistics are a bit harder to use, but I still manage.

When I notice it, I just try to lag shoot - don't like that I have to, but it works for the most part.

Now, when I'm all ballistic, well, "Help! GetitoffmegetitoffmeGETITOFFOFMEEEEEEEeeeee!" :)

How do I deal with it?

Mostly Streaks, but falling over dead when a competent Raven-3L shows up also seems to be a key part of my strategy.

If they seem to be moving in "frames," then I aim 1/2 of a lag-frame ahead of them. That often works to tell me how much to adjust my aim because I can watch their armor readout and see what body part I'm hitting. I then adjust the amount of lead I put in based on where I want my shots to go on the armor diagram.

This. When my ping is <100 i almost never see any sort of lag shield. My hits register every time with lasers. However, when I am above 100 ping maybe a shot or two does not register, but still not really that game breaking.

I don't even recognize it as a complaint because I hardly ever see it. And for those that do see it, get a better connection.
