Hello. My idea isn't original by far, but has been proven on other games. A player that gets an occasional reward for playing is a player usually more willing to further invest into said game, either in time or money.

By this I mean a small MC reward, say for hitting certain achievements. What this will do is enable players that might not be able to afford a whole lot of MC purchase earn their way eventually into getting more mech bays, some of the unique mechs, etc.

Some thoughts on how to go about this might be say every 250 matches won, or perhaps every couple hundred kills would reward say 50 to 100 MC. Not a whole lot, but enough that someone could get that extra bay or what not after playing awhile. It would also give non-grouped (not part of a clan) a reason to continue playing while pugging, other than the satisfaction of the fight.

Just some thoughts, please feel free to add your ideas.

I think this is a brilliant idea, but I think your rewards are a bit too high. I'd have set goals to complete (500 kills, 5000 kills, 1000 assists, X damage done, 100 headshot kills, 1000 components destroyed, etc.) and a very small MC (10-250) and/or decent C-Bill (100k - 2.5m) reward tied to each one (with the large rewards going to ridiculously hard things to complete, obviously). Many people (myself included) are always driven to get that next achievement. It'd only add to the game's longevity.

Given how hard a time they are having just balancing the game and getting it to work properly, I think it would be a long while before they get an Achievements system working. That said, it would make a lot of sense, and it seems to work well for Steam. That said, I wonder if the idea is copyrighted or whatever?

Well, the achievement concept wouldn't infringe upon any other game as long as they made their own. Most FTP games have an achievement system, and quite a lot from many different companies reward their players to promote longevity.

Achievements are a nice idea, to build in after all other things, just before going out of beta ...

Maybe this is a little bit better the a few 100 mc every few kills:
Shootingrange:
Killing 10, 50, 100, 250, 500 mechs of a weightclass gives you 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 mc (15 per weightclass,. 60 together)
Doing Kills with a mech of a weightclass 10, 50, 100, 250, 500 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 mc (15 per weightclass,. 60 together)
Doing 10, 50, 100, 250, 500 kills with every weaponclass gives you 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 mc (15 for each class, 3 classes, 45 mc together)
Componentdestruction: 10, 50,100, 250, 500 gives you 1,2,3,4,5 mc (15 together)
Removing Legs 10, 50, 100, 250, 500 gives 1-5 mc each (15 together)
Removing Arms 10, 50, 100, 250, 500 gives 1-5 mc each (15 together)
Cockpitkills 5, 20, 50, 100, 250 gives 1-5mc each (15 together)
Killing 75, 150, 300 mechs of a type (like jenners or hunchbacks) gives 1, 2, 3 mc (6 per mechtype, 12 classes with stalker, 72 together)
27 achievements, 297mc together
Targetdummy:
Losing a leg 5, 20, 50, 100, 250 gives 1 mc each (5together)
Losing a arm 5, 20, 50, 100, 250 gives 1 mc each (5 together)
Beeing cockpitkilled 5, 20, 50, 100, 250 gives 1 mc each (5together)
Killed by weapontype 5, 20, 50, 100, 250 times gives 1 mc each (5 per weaponclass, 3 classes, 15 together)
6 achievements, 30mc together
Teamwork:
Doing 10, 50, 100, 250, 500 capture assists gives you 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 mc (15 together)
Doing 10, 50, 100, 250, 500 wins gives you 1,2,3,4,5 mc (15 together)
Losing 10, 50, 100, 250, 500 gives you 1 mc each ( 5 together)
Beeing teamkilled: 1, 5, 10, 25, 50 gives 1 mc each (5 together)
4 achievements, 40 mc together
________________
37 achievements (with multiple steps, will increase with every new mech by 1) with 367 mc together (will increase with every new mech by 6)
In the long run you can earn a mechbay or paint this way and if they wish a few fancy titles for the achievements.

I can see maybe one problem with awarding MC for kills. Players occasionally end up accidentally shooting their own team mates when shooting at enemy mechs. I think that the problem would be a lot worse if people knew they were going to be awarded MC for the killing shot and there would end up being a lot more team kills as people try to get the killing shot on the enemy.

MC for kills? No.
That's just awarding some playstyles (lights/brawlers) and punishing others (support).

Rewarding players by paying them for achievements.

For example, have MCs awarded for damaged caused. Some for a 100 parts destroyed. etc. etc. etc.

Free MC is pretty much a no-no because MC is the lifeblood of PGIGP. You're more likely to see things like Clan Tech or cockpit items being given away.

A small amount of MC every hundred or so wins wouldn't be so bad, maybe about 50 MC.
Not enough to actually do anything with it unless you buy extra or grind for months.

Remember MC is also used for other things like MXP to GXP conversion, which believe is how PGIGP is expecting to get most people to purchase MC at least once. Free MC would defeat this.

As opposed to straight MC, make the Achievement MC a special variety. Perhaps XMC, for eXchange MC. Useable only to convert XP to GXP for your Mech Chassis.

That would provide a way to keep values low but actually provide a quick and useable Achievement.

Many of the numbers used above would require it be called the "Lifetime Achievement Awards" fcol. LOL :)
