Most people bought the game with an expectation or speculation of what the game will be or turn out to be. The developers are under no obligation to fulfill your exceptions, and are therefore not required to communicate with the player base whether or not they are meeting those expectations. Whether these are practices of a good business is another question entirely.
This was one of the first games to have a paid open beta experience and more games have gone this route. I find this an appalling trend as it tends to create animosity between factions of the players and the developers. Solely because players paying in beta situation believe they are purchasing an expectation of what the game will be down the road. When expectations and reality began to diverge animosity is created. I understand the economics of game development are very difficult today, especially for the PC market, and developers need to open any and all revenue streams. But paid betas are an awful trend that are probably here to stay though.
From my experiences here, I really don't ever see myself paying for any beta content here or anywhere else. Nor would I ever participate in a kickstarter. I look at Chris Roberts and Star Citizen, all the promises that guy made, all the expectations he has raised, Then look at developer player hostility here and can only imagine what a war zone the Star Citizen forums will be during open beta.

Also, it's not like that was recorded by a camera phone in a closed-door meeting. It was in a publicly available magazine.

The whole blocking your red target icon is stupid.
I think a concession is to make people activate ECM and it stays active for a certain amount of time before dropping and needing time to recharge.
Sure, it's a deviation from the Canon use of the tech, but tech like this needs to rework for it to work responsibly in a FPS game.

the way it is in game already is a deviation from canon use of tech why would that matter?

All this crap is balanced to work with each other already and should only be tweaked and changed for those items that need special care to fit into a FPS environment.
Instantly running to the option of changing it beyond it's canon design is an easy out and should be held off as long as possible.
