Maybe as training areas or some Single player mission "instances" so that I don't have to always rely on other people to play the game with me. Sometimes it's nice to just play alone...

Oh and thanks for making a new Mechwarrior title :)

Yeah, would be great. Just for training purposes or to have a little skirmish/dogfight fun and test out new mechs and setups.

If this goes the way of WOW's arena's this will do very poorly in the previews.

That said, I love the mechwarrior series, but would hate to see this game kill of the genre as effectively as Mech-Commander did.

Huh? We were talking about AI for training purposes? I can´t see how this is related to WoW´s Arena PVP matches?

I actually didn't mind the Mech-Commander games, and thought they were actually kinda fun in their own way. Mech Assault, not as much :\ But the mechwarrior single players were always my favorite... Hope we get a taste of that :)

Oh and Brixx, you're german? Ich habe in Muenster und Siegen fur 2 jahre gelebt!! Es war 'na schoene zeit fur mich. Leider gibt es niemanden in die nahe, der deutsch spricht, hier in der USA... :\ Mein deutsch geht immer schlecter... So ob es fehler gibt, tut mir leid!

I really hope this happens, because it seems to be a good feature that is being fazed out of newer games, for online match making. What if your connection is bad, but still want some mech-on-mech action? You either have some type of AI, or are SOL.

I would love to see team based PVE campaigns. Maybe too much to hope for. For the anti-social "I just want to play by myself" guys give them lance mate NPCs to order around. Its totally doable!

I would love some kind of virtual arena where I could at least test out my mech customisation....

Without an area to play and train newbies will get plastered in the game and loose intrest. I loved the stand alone games and hated playing online, even aganst friends.

I think it would be fun to have missions that implement AI "targets", like having to attack/defend a convoy.

Frankly I will be with MWO for about a week tops if there isn't some single-player or co-op action. There is little more boring that being thrown into a map and told "kill those guys". Dull, dull, dull (at least for me). That's why I own many FPS titles and don't deathmatch. Give me a story and a purpose and I'm happy. I don't mind if the enemy 'Mechs are piloted by people or AIs so long as I have a mission with more to it than "go there, kill that". It's the reason why the boardgame, in addition to the standard game types, includes so many in-universe scenarios. They help players get a feel for the setting, the game and the specific battle. Why kill that Lance when you can be capturing that essential resource or holding this strategic point?
A war is not about putting soldiers in the field and telling them to kill each other, that accomplishes nothing. Unless you're in the Clans, when that's exactly what war is about, but at least they first agree what the "prize" is. All Clan warfare is essentially a giant tournament but the Inner Sphere doesn't work like that.

What I would like to see in an ideal world is a mix of tactical missions, battles for control of specific planetary/galactic map points and some feel that my play affects the overall strategic position of whichever faction I'm working for. Solaris-style arena play might also be fun but without an actual league to compete in I would probably only bother with it if it seemed a useful way to acquire necessary income.

There needs to be training areas where beginners can practice and try out the different mechs. It doesn't matter how much of a "vet" you are we are all going to need to try out some of the new game mechanisms before going head to head.

I also hope they go this route for the Clan invasion. The Clans could be AI-controlled and thus the game could add a co-op element, with the IS against the AI Clans.

From info released so far, I get the exact opposite impression.

Please I hope we get both some solo PVE and some team PVE. I'm an adult guy with a job, family and responsibilities. I need a game that can adapt to my schedule, so I can play when I want. Not to mention PVE is usually a lot more relaxing and less stressful the PVP. WIll I PVP sometimes? Only if I have to or am with a group that wants to. I have enough competition in my life without looking for more of it to fill my off time, at least right now. Of course if I win the Lottery tomorrow I probably will have more time to fill heh.

You could do something similar to ChromeHounds as in its Mech lab there was an option to test your Mech/Hound in a test area. For the PVE style however you could implement the sort of side missions that you could opt for in ChromeHounds that netted less money and generally less opposition than a full out brawl between Mechs

I don't know about anti-social. I think we just prefer story-driven games to an engine that says "Here you go, now go out and kill stuff" without any motivation. That, and people online tend to be at their most dickish all of the time.

The way I see it, whether you're playing PVP, PVE, or SIngle player, you're still sitting at home, alone. It's all anti-social at the end of the day.

I don't see much point to the game at all if it were pvp-only (it's basically a matching service with c-bills and some level of mech persistence, then). There are already several free mods like MWLL and the free rerelease of MW4: Mercs that are servicing that community. Frankly, those communities are rather miniscule and even if they moved wholesale to MWO it won't be enough to support the game.
