I have several lines of mechs I have mastered now, and find myself using 1 or 2 varients while the others are never used. Half of them dont even have engines in them any more.

Once you have mastered a line, is there any reason to keep the un-used mechs around? I dont know if they have hinted at anything down the line or not.

I have already picked up a few extra mech slots, but meh.. may have to get more.

Hold on to the mech untill you need the mech slot. You don;t get much for selling the ones you have, and you do not get anything back for the $$ you spent on DHS, ES, FF or Artemis. If you have those upgrades on your mech it makes more sense to hold on to them untill you *must* make room for more.

I never sold any of my painted miniatures , and I'll keep all of these too. Just hope they add the ability to sort mech bays.

True, that might be a good idea. Have the ability to "Archive" or put the mech in a collecters state. Maybe for a modest fee. You still own the mech and can pull it out later for a fee if you have an available mech slot.

I've mastered the Jenner D[F], Hunchback G[F], Catapult C1[F], Y-L-W and I've kept those, the other 8 mechs to get 3 masters on each, I stripped everything from them (including armor) and sold the frames'

I'm now working om mastering the Ravens & Atlas' will keep the Raven 3L and strip and sell the 2X&4X.

As for the Atlas' D[F] & D-DC I will keep but will most likely sell the RS.

If I go after the Commando/Cicada I will only keep the ECM variant after mastering 3 of them.

The fee is 1 MechBay slot for 300MC.

I keep them around.

I have two 'Cats that used to be LRM boats that I have moved away from but keep around for a match here and there and to swap parts around with (stopped using them not because of ECM, but found I like brawling more over long range support). There's a Cataphracht that rarely gets used as well since it has kind of a high repair cost if I get killed, but fun to take out off and on.

Dunno about the Chassis I still sell them quite often to free up mechbays. But for a few weeks now I have made it a habbit to NEVER sell any piece of equipment I once bought unless the number of the same item gets really insanely high.

And I found this is a really good decision since I like to constantly change loadouts.

It might take a bit longer until you get a desired piece of equipment or mech you don't have yet. But once you made the money you still have all the nice stuff to fumble around with the loadouts.

Whioch makes me think that it would be extremely nice to be able to just buy empty mech chassis.

Here's why I keep them around. Two reasons. First, during closed beta I would master a chassis, sell off the other two variants, and then a few weeks later I would want to experiment with a loadout and it turns out the variant I sold had the hardpoints I wanted to play with. So I had to rebuy and was real sad about it.

But perhaps more importantly, reason #2 is this: New equipment comes out all the time, and they sometimes limit that equipment to only a few variants. ECM, for example. I was real happy with my Founder's Atlas and was this close ---><--- to selling off the other two variants because I never played with them. Then BAM, ECM comes along and made me real happy I didn't sell off the DC. Since there are so many new modules we're not aware of yet, better hang on to everything until the game settles, in my opinion.

you never know when they're gonna "rebalance" things and make your favorite variant garbage and your least favorite OP

Really up to you. If you don't mind rebuying them again later when a change is made that makes them required, then go ahead. Right now we can't really say if there's anything major that will happen that will require you to rebuy sold master mechs.

I just keep all of mine. No harm in buying more mech bays.

I want to be the very best,
Like no one ever was.
To pilot them is my real test,
To train them is my cause.

I will travel across the land,
Searching far and wide.
Each Mech to understand
The power that's inside

(Gotta own 'em all)

It's you and me
I know it's my destiny
Mechemon.

You're my best friend,
In a world we must defend.

Mechemon!

(Gotta own 'em all)

A reactor so true.
Our courage will pull us through.
You teach me and I'll teach you.
Mechemon.

(Gotta own 'em all)

Every challenge along the way
With courage I will face.
I will battle everyday
To claim my rightful place.

Come with me the time is right.
There's no better team.
Armed and charged we'll win the fight.
It's always been our dream.

Mechemon!

(Gotta own 'em all)

It's you and me
I know it's my destiny

Mechemon!

Oh, your my best friend,
In a world we must defend.

Mechemon!

A reactor so true.
Our courage will pull us through.
You teach me and I'll teach you.

Mechemon!

(Gotta own 'em all)

Yeah!

Mechemon!

It's you and me
I know it's my destiny

Mechemon!

Oh, your my best friend,
In a world we must defend.

Mechemon!

A reactor so true.
Our courage will pull us through.

Incorrect, if you are elite in that mech chassis, you keep all the elite skills and benifits no matter the other variants.

If you want the extra c bills then sell them.

I prefer to keep mine for tinkering. I have fun trying to find alternate builds for old mechs. A lot of the time I test different weapon systems that may be unusual for the chassis (like an LRM boat Centurion). The tinkering almost always results in something unexpected and has resulted in a few unexpectedly fun builds for mechs that I did not initially enjoy.

Like others I have sold those I only bought to master my mains, but occasionally I would come across some that I enjoyed like the cent 9d or the phract 1x and 4x. Other times I have sold mechs I didn't like but then later regretted it such as the cat c2(I think that's the variant) after they made changes with ecm I would have liked to have it for a srm6 boat.

I say keep them. I used to sell them, but more often than not there would always be a situation where I wanted to take the sold varaint for a spin and couldn't. Resale value is crap, so unless you *really* don't want to spend MC on mechbays, I say hold on to your mechs.

i only keep the variants i want to use. usually thats 2. some variants are just inferior to others so there is no need to keep them. thats true for lights and meds btw. i guess i would never sell a heavy or assault.

If you don't have some kind of attachment to hose mechs, no there is no reason to hold onto them once they have served their purpose.
