

[Old Idea]Ac20 Knock Down

assualt might fall over 15% of the time when hit with the ac 20.
heavy 20% of the time when hit.
med has a 30% chance when hit
light has a 50% chance when hit.
that give you a dam good reason to take this weapon over a uac or guass.

It does a ton of damage and, IMO, there is no reason to add insult to injury by having a knockdown effect in addition.

the tt also stated that any mech that recieved 20 points or more per round had to roll to see if they remaind standing since there is not real reason to take a ac20 this give you a good reason .

Underlined the flaw in your logic. AC20 might not be the easiest weapon to use, but it is already very effective once you have practice. And as far as anyone knows, PGI has no plans to integrate the knockdown from damage rule from TT into this game.

does not have range has alot of heat low ammo per ton just cause it does alot per one shot has more going against it than it does for it.allowing it to put ya on your *** make it different other than the normal.
like i have stated b4 every other mechwarrior game has allowd the ac/20 to have a chance to knock you down.
plus the ac/20 was suppose to be the end all weapon up close and its not that as it is now.now if it could knock you down then it would.

They are not putting knockdowns from damage in this game. Most of us agree that it is not needed. AC20 is still the best close range weapon if you have the skill.

I don't like your % but I agree the chance of knock down from damage needs in the game.. Maybe less then a 5% chance with increaded (1% addons) for amounts of damage over 20 points in say a 2-3 sec window... This would simulate the chance of knock down from damage in the TT game.. Then dd in a Module you could mount to lower even this chance.
But then don't count on it. I mean we couldn't even get a Knock down for blowing legs off out of the Devs... and that makes a LOT more sense then from straight up damage:)

Getting knocked down is an almost automatic death sentence and I think that is why they aren't putting it in. In a game without re-spawns they don't want the match to be over too quickly for anyone because of something they couldn't control, especially if it is RNG based. In TT it was based on dicerolls, we don't want dicerolls here.

i pilot many mechs includeing light mechs and i think that this is something that add alot of fun to the game,

When they fic it (if they ever do), then they'd be sure to consider it. It would make me rethink using an AC20.

No it's not just light mechs, I don't ever pilot lights. This has been discussed to death and it seems to be a minority even among people that like the AC20 that want it, or any high amount of damage, to cause knockdowns. It seems to be mostly the people that erroneously believe the AC20 to be somehow inferior that want the knockdown added.

In other words - no. I'm sure you want to keep going at the same 100% max speed and I would like to not fall over and take damage due to one weapon - possibly killing me with one shot. No thanks....

there is no reason not to have knock down other than they were broke and they devs have said it will be coming back so get ready wouldnt be suprised if they dont add them to weapons.
the ac20 should have it.
