2 SRM4s deal 20 damage (though spread a bit) and 4 Medium Lasers deal 20 damage. I think that's enough to kill a Commando.

I've 1-shot GaussCats from behind on my Hunchback. :(

Depends, do you have fun playing it? If not just sell it.

Do what you want to do instead of what someone else wants you to do?

Still trying to get into that clan?

With all the commotion on the forums over ECMs, I'm rather amused by your response.

Since selling mechs really doesn't give you a good value, I'd suggest keeping it. Maybe you'll come around later? There are a number of Commando guides on the forums. They're a good start to having fun in one.

ECM doesn't protect you from unguided missiles and medium lasers. If you stand still and allow 4 ML + 1 SRM4 to hit your CT then you are done. If you are running around you stand an ok chance of beating a Jenner with just SSRMS, however a better skilled pilot is going to be able to focus damage on you.

Most likely you are trying to circle strafe a Jenner instead of running in and doing fast strikes. If you circle strafe the Jenner will be able to focus fire on you and tear through the commandos especially weak armor.

If you are a poor light pilot, play a Raven 3L, and skip circle straffing your opponents and focus on doing damage and not getting hit. Also when you are getting his with lasers, the first thing you need to do is roll your torso so that the laser damage gets spread all over your body rather than one spot.

~32 points damage to burn through an mechs head armor and head internals.

commando's frequently have less than that the 18 armor common to the head in one place or another.

also. ammo explosion detected. or. hello xl hell.

What is your preferred playstyle? If your preferred playstyle is using SSRMs, which I assume as you're in an ECM Commando, shift your ECM into "counter" mode with the J key. That allows you to nullify the effects of one enemy ECM unit within 180m.

Really, with ECM implemented as it is only ECM carriers can take SSRMs and expect them to be effective. If you're already in an ECM Commando though, you're already in a mech that can make them work.

Also, regardless of how much you beef the armor up the Commando is still a fragile mech. That's just how it is.

Did no one make a Command 2D ECM guide? You can use the search function and look some threads up like the one below.

You can read a discussion thread about 2Ds with ECM here and here's a video of a Command 2D with ECM and streaks running around. Killing a Jenner at 2:00 or so:

Lrms are still useful. You just need Someone to tag or put a tag on your lrm boat and self tag. Works great

Lock on weapons aren't obsolete, they just aren't I win buttons anymore (Im looking at you, Streaks) But regardless, dude, L2Aim is my only suggestion. "Weapons that require no aim don't work, what should I do?" Really?!?! REALLY!?!?!

The TAG allows you to lock on to mechs that it is fired at even if they are inside an ECM bubble (so long as the mech with the TAG is outside the bubble) and it is getting a pretty large range increase tomorrow. LRMs still won't be as effective as they were, but I've had some success with using a self-tagging layout before.

Also, there's no need to post three times in rapid succession. 15 minutes is not a long time to wait for a reply, let alone 5 minutes.

His recent posts are very suspect so I wouldn't worry too much.
