Disrespecting "pugs"

Lots of people here seem to view all MW:O players as falling into 2 categories, us and them, founders/premades vs PUGs
I have heard PUGs blamed for all the bad things in the game, TKing, losing games, blamed for causing the 'dumbing down' of gameplay to accomodate them blah blah
I challenge this notion, and I think it's time to stop disrespecting the (disprespectfully named) PUGs
Because like it or not dudes, these 'others', the non hardcore elite pre-mades, are going to form the majority of the playerbase.
I've played around 600 games so far since I arrived, and in almost all of those I am a *spit* PUG.
I have spent a few quid on the game and bought MC several times so far, and consider myself to be a decent pilot and an asset to my team and hit some good scores almost every game.
I do well solo, I tend to go with the flow of what the rest of my team does and thats fine.
No voice comms, no need to communicate at all most of the time, just using common sense.
So do us a favour and pipe down a bit - Just because I don't have the time to spend arranging teams and matches doesn't mean I am a worse player than you, in fact I'd happily put that to the test and see how much your in cockpit banners, fancy forum sigs, in-depth TT knowledge and air of false superiority help you when I'm melting your face off.
Bring on the Solaris arena and the ability to throw down the gauntlet

No. Pugs are scum and should be treated as such. Period, the end.

I blame bad players.
Unfortunatley, the 2 overlap far too frequently.

Thanks, there was a guy on the forums back before closed beta who was making them for people. He did a really good job.
Oh, and just because a person is not a founder, doesn't make them a pug. Just because a player is new, doesn't make them a pug.
What makes pugs pugs is the refusal to take the simple no effort steps to become competitive and an asset to their team.

whatever you think about how someone chooses to play, it shouldn't automatically be the basis for insult... if anything we should be polite to new players and help them understand the game, how to improve in playing it and how to increase their enjoyment of the game
having said that, I got bored with PUGging, and of trying to form a team on the comstar server... so joined a regular group and now it's easy to jump in to a group, have social interaction and team mates that stand at least a vague chance of actually helping you, which has improved my enjoyment of the game massively
it would be nice if PUGging were more consistent in this respect, but without a decent tutorial / new user guide and new player matchmaking, it isn't going to happen, so until all of that is in place it's a case of making the best of what IS in place

Perhaps a change of name should be in order then, because I am a pug, but I don't think I deserve the negative connotations that come with the tag

I have never seen a Premade AFK. Explode at 30 seconds into the game.
That said, I will look forward to trading Lasers and DU rounds with you cause you sound like a fun advisary!

Ehem, a lot of PUGgers have fancy forum sigs, in-depth TT knowledge, and Founder's tags. I PUG but I also play with friends.
Most of us are not disrespecting PUGs as much as dealing with a random and unknown quality and having to make the "best of it". If we say something like, "But PUGgers will never X." it is because we really can't count on a random teammate with no connection to us and no consequence to their actions to do X. It isn't because I think they are stupid, but because it might not be in their best interest to do X.
Example, I drop in a PUG with a mech designed for long range and someone says, "Let's go Cave!" Do I really want to go into the cave? In a pre-made group we can have some "plans" already of going Cave when we can and I wouldn't bring a strictly long range focused mech, but a random drop with a random team?
In addition for every 9 good solid PUG players there is 1 that is just BAD. In a Pre-made there would be people trying to help them, offering advice, and otherwise helping them. In PUGging they just drop, get smashed, and don't really get advice(if they do it typically is not in a friendly constructive manner). I have attempted to politely point out to a few players that right now Flamers don't really do much more than overheat your own mech.
Seeing an Atlas with 4 of them, LRMs, an apparent XL engine and nothing else... That sort of vivid image sticks in my head and becomes the post-child of "dumb PUGgers". Pretty soon I reinforce that with a 3 Machine Gun 1 Medium laser Dragon running around while PUGging. Very soon I have built up a false image of PUGgers with "Misleading Vividness" ignoring the ones that were capable and even really good. The fact that I don't know who is grouping and PUGging means I can falsely assume anyone good is a non-PUGger and further mislead myself.
Logical folks like myself realize this is happening. We know the main drawback to PUGging is the randomness of what your "team" will be made up of and lack of communication. These are not insurmountable obstacles but do make PUGging harder to do and win with.

Well when I'm not overheat suiciding or AFKing (joke) I would love to go toe to toe with you, I'm thinking Solaris mano a mano duels could be a great addition to mwo. Perhaps when I win I can have a fancy forum sig as a prize haha

House player=a member of a Dev made house unit
Lone wolf=A solo player with skills on the board worth having on your team
Noob=Someone who just started playing so dose not understand all mechanics yet.
Pug=Someone who drops alone has played a while but still lacks skill to contribute much to the team.
Farmer=Dose not repair mechs sits at spawn spoiling other peoples games(mostly done with bots)
Crasher=players that crash to desktop or black screen so are inactive in match.
These are how i view the terms other people might view it different. That is just my thoughts though.

PUG is a pick up group. In MMOs it means you find people to play with on an ad hoc basis. You won't know who they are when you find them, and you probably won't see them again.
PUGs is a term used for those kind of players. Pugger is also a valid term.
Noob is the proper term to use against discos and suiciders.
