These are excellent changes, I'm honestly shocked by how good they are. New players are critical for growth and to maintain MWO in the future. With these changes I'm certain they'll retain more newbies.

In "Ask the Devs - 29" Garths' first post is:

Same as usual, only one request: No Community Warfare questions please. I feel awful that I cannot answer them now and I hate passing them all by. Cheers everyone!

While yes it is an assumption on my part, it's quite likely that new CW information is no the way.

Ive made at least one thread on this; it was locked because CW is "beyond the current road map"
He says dont ask because he was getting barraged with those questions and they have no answer

Beyond the current road map......it must be worse than we thought.

I don't see this change stopping anyone form being afk or doing suicides.

You dont see it? How about you give it a day or two then make a call. The only way you could actually prove this statement is by saying you suicide and afk/dc bot and will continue to prove it. Otherwise I dont see how you could say it wont deter others.

I share others concern that Assault mode is simply becoming TDM. No rewards for base capping or base defending. No difference in win loss tie payout. So why have the bases? Don't get me wrong, the base zerg rushes do get old, but this system is likely to remove the extra dimension of having a base from gameplay tactical consideration (not considering community warfare consequences since that seems far off). I'm sure if that happens rebalancing will be done. Just wanted to voice my concern. Lets see how it plays out first.

Still should not be worth more than the kill shot is all I'm saying. I wrack up alot of Assists in a game I should not make more than the killer.

Why? You do 95% of the work killing a mech and someone fires a small laser and takes out the target. That one small laser blast was worth more?

I agree. Kill shots will now be taken by players who're working toward the goal of winning the match. There wont be the inane jostling and friendly fire incidents that were a common scene when several KDR addicts were jonesing for a fix.

The thing with kill reward vs assist reward is that the person who lands the killshot gets LESS than the guy who just grazed him with a laser. If anything the kill and assist reward should be equal.

This is more to take some of the "i've got to get the last hit even it means blasting it thru my teammate" attitude. Although to be fair, thats mainly due to the KDR stat not the cbill reward.

You already get zero cbills if you suicide, you may have noticed nobody is doing that anymore? If you didnt notice that i doubt you'll notice the difference in afk mechs (which are normally DC'd/CTD anyway)

those guys (afk/dc/bot) need to really get 0 rewards, zero, zilch, nada, NIX !!!!! then I´ll stop ranting and TKing them to pieces.

If welfare stays with this patch (and I think it will stay, IGP/PGI don´t have the balls to really stomp on them afkers) afkfarming and suicidebotting (suicide in terms of running into the enemy and be blown to smithereens, not overheating) will stay just like it was with us since OB.

If this patch removed welfare.... well this would actually kill botting in an instant, and the DCers will get motivation to fix their rigs, not just accept they can play only 20% of matches and carry on with it killing the fun for the whole team they mess up !!
